The location is unmatchable. Just at the west side of the Central Park. The overall condition of the room was unsatisfying - the windows, and the radiator and the vinyl floors. Maybe I should not expect much more for this price, but still. Also there was a strange not so nice smell in the room.

Clean and fairly quiet giving the location. A good area to get to many attractions quickly. Reasonably priced, however there is a $30 charge on arrival and if you want to use the pool you’ll need a swimming hat.

lies and deception
Advertised as 24H Check in? Think again!- counter guy called Ramos didn’t bother to check if room was ready merely pointed to 1430h check in time, merely directed us to the paid luggage storage area- “$2 per hour”-fortunately per piece. but when a lovely couple of European ladies present themselves, rooms were checked and keycards were issued. Upon checking again with another dude at the counter, w the advanced payment printout- key card was then issued. #doublestandards #discrimination #poorservice No heating Be prepared to sleep in your winter wear and the “central heating does not turn on until it is below 47 deg” but the temp has been in the 30s all the while!!-hell it even snowed! But no heating, window ain’t double coated so you get constant wintry ventilation along with the pitter patter all night long. Gym scolding -went to counter to enquirer again about heatingas temp has dropped by 0400h to 30s but still no heating- directed me to security to get more blankets (single towel like blanket for each bed-hence winter wear to sleep) -guy at counter said gym opens at 0600h daily- and since I was (still) up at 0600h might as well get some sweat out - gym doors open n accessible by lift w lights on, started working out but some other guy comes in to the gym and was displeased as hell- said gym ain’t open. Wasn’t listening to no explanation that his colleague at the counter was the one who told us it was open. Sarcastic reasoning that the lights would

WARNING DON’T STAY AT THE YMCA, this place is not suitable for humans to even enter the building. bed bugs, Disgusting showers and toilets. Unhygienic, it smells, THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE DEMOLISHED. That’s all you could do with it to improve it. This place feels cold and Uninviting, it’s like you are going to a prison cell when you first walk to your I’m not even going to call it a room cause it’s not. you can’t sleep itching all night. They supply you a stained torn towel to shower with while I was there 2 days there was no hot water. The beds are uncomfortable, it’s depressing you don’t want to leave your belongings there. Staff are rude and not helpful at all. They like seeing you distressed and do g care to help. They don’t care about you at all just want your money. I felt so personally unsafe. Please don’t stay here I am informing to remove this place from there list asked only going to cause them problems. you will regret it it’s not even that cheap. this place I feel has been supplied for the homeless and they are trying to get money out of people visiting. only good things is it’s location cause it’s in New York I wish I could leave my number here so people could call so I can tell you and warning you if you don’t believe me. I never had an experience like this in all my years of travel.

Great location and clean, if spartan accommodation
Given the great location, clean rooms, safe neighborhood, and the reasonable rates, this is an excellent choice. That said, why is there an extra $10 charge per night stay? I was told it was for "membership." There was no such charge the last time I stayed here a year or two ago.

Location, Location, Location!
Great location! Excellent neighborhood. Rooms are basic but comfy. Reserved a “deluxe” room with semi-private bathroom (shared but 1 person at a time vs dorm style bathrooms on other floors). Deluxe Room seemed a tad larger too. Mist if the staff is very nice. Loud knocking pipes (winter) will wake even the heartiest sleepers. Improvements: 1 bathrooms: add towel hooks and a surface to set clothes w/o them getting wet. 2. Bathrooms: fix door locks 3. Linen: very worn. Need replacing 4. Flat pillows (ask for a replacement at the security desk).

Y choose this Y
I’ve stayed in the Y before & knee what I was getting. But this does fall below cleanliness standards. Bring ear plugs. For a night you’ll survive but the other y is much better, despite this fantastic location

Had a great stay. Basic but clean accommodations were perfect when spending most of the time out and about in the city.

Amazing location, great price, but uncomfortable
Look, you're not going to get a better price for this location. Excellent deal. You also have to pay for a $10 day pass to the YMCA, which means you'll have access to the facilities, which many would probably enjoy. I also felt very safe in the facility. I was in a single, shared bathroom. The bathroom was very clean and luckily not busy at all. The room was clean, if not a bit run-down. The bed was super hard and uncomfortable, the pillow flat yet lumpy. You could tell the linens and pillow were old and well-worn. There was also a lot of noise during the night - people moving the chairs/furniture in their room around (linoleum floor so metal scraping sounds), doors slamming (heavy doors, so hard to close quietly), and at one point a power drill for some reason? There were also screws missing in the bed frame, so I felt like I couldn't move around to much for fear of it collapsing. So, not a great night's sleep. But if you want to be in a great location in NYC without having to pay $200 or a lot more, then this is your best option.
Hope, us1 night trip
