I didn't have expectations so was pleasantly surprised. Friendly helpful people and lots to see.The canals are the pearl necklace of the city, stringing different areas together. The rooftop garden on top of the library is the best view of the city.

Much, much better than anticipated. The city centre is improving but get away from that and move from it. Walk to Victoria Square, visit the Museum & Art Gallery, walk the canals, eat off the beaten track, go visit Winterbourne House & Gardens.

My birth city has transitioned from a dirty, smoky Victorian Manufacturing city of a thousand trades to a place full of shops, museums, art galleries and some fantastic canal side restaurants. The jazz and music scene was great before COVID.

Make sure to visit Digbeth street art area and the canals. If you want to visit independent bars/restaurants stick to thursday-sunday as many of the places we wanted to go were not open Monday or Tuesday!

Hilton Birmingham Metropole
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel genuinely had some if the friendliest staff I've ever come across in a hotel. The chap on the desk at breakfast was an absolute gem, as were the waiting staff. They were helpful, attentive, kind, and smiley.
Our room was pretty standard. But comfortable, clean, and had very comfy beds. A huge elevision was an extra bonus. Good toiletries, and big, fluffy towels were also lovely.
The swimming pool and gym area were clean and of an excellent standard. Again, with extremely helpful staff.
The 1 downside to this fabulous hitel is the SIXTEEN POUNDS A DAY car parking charge. It's utterly abhorrent that after paying to stay the night in the hotel, you get charged to park your car on top. Charge the day guests, or conference attendees, but not the good people that have already paid to use your establishment. "
"Room was lovely and clean. Lifts were a bit of a nightmare even though there were 4! Checked in at 3.20 and rooms weren't ready but they gave us ones that were. Went for breakfast at 8.45 and luckily missed the huge queue that formed behind us. Full english breakfast, cereal, fruit toast, croissants, make your own waffles which were a hit with the kids, juice, water coffee etc, great for free! Would recommend for the price and would go again!"
