very nice
A very nice place for me to stay for three days while I attended a conference in D.C..It was very clean and comfortable and cozy and quiet and in a nice location. Jack is very friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay again. It is an old house, with a little chipped paint and creaky stairs for people who care about that sort of thing.

Nice rooming house with some significant issues
This is a pretty nice rooming house. The manager was very nice. Rooms are pretty and homey, with a bunch of books on the shelf. Fresh fruit and cookies were a nice touch. Issues: (1) in my room #301, the toilet was very small - perfect for an 8-10 year old, but not for someone over 6' tall. (2) There were no electrical outlets a reasonable distance from the desk or other horizontal surface, so I had to move the bed in order to plug in anything - an extension cord would have been helpful. The biggest issue: why was Fox news on the downstairs TV all the time? Please leave the TV off, unless there are people actively watching!

Incredibly considerate and friendly host.
My wife and I have a newborn at home in our apartment, so we had my sister and niece stay here. They were made to feel incredibly at home and it was really convenient. I cannot recommend the considerateness and friendliness of our host more!

Nice Budget Place to stay
If you are looking for a budget place to stay in Washington DC I can recommend this place! Jack was very friendly and he made a nice breakfast ! The location is good for all places you want to visit like Monument , Zoo and most Consulate offices !

Good 6,0
This place is conveniently located to the zoo, Adams Morgan, DuPont Circle, and Red line Metro stop, and is reasonably priced. I had a basement room, which was overheated, and the walls and doors were very thin—I could overhear the entire phone conversation of the guy in the next room. Also, the shower for the basement rooms had only just adequately warm water, not hot.

Great NW DC option
Jack, owner & concierge all in one, is a really great guy. Very caring & helpful. Location is superb—walking distance to Washington Zoo and Connecticut Avenue, main artery. I will stay there again when in DC, but won’t rent a car. Public transit + Lyft makes renting car silly. Parking very scarce in Kalorama.

A hidden gem.
Wonderful location, close to local shops & the Metro. The proprietor, Jack, prepares a breakfast that will keep you full all day. He goes out of his way to make his guests feel comfortable. Our room had a wonderful collection of books as well as a treasure trove of old "Life" magazines. We will return next time we visit DC.

Not what I expected based on the high ratings.
A place to sleep since most hotels were sold-out. Minimal accommodations.
