The Burlesque Hall of Fame museum is dedicated to the art and history of Burlesque and features costumes, art, photos, and ephemera from famous dancers. The museum opened in 1990 as Exotic World in Helendale, CA, but later received a name change and moved to the heart of city centre Vegas' Arts District.

The museum has maintained a Hall of Fame since the early 21st century featuring Living Legend of the Year and Sassy Lassy awards. It also exhibits a collection of hundreds of costumes, props, photographs, and memorabilia from dancers throughout history, including Dita Von Tease, Lili St. Cyr, and Tempest Storm.

Highlights of the Burlesque Hall of Fame

The Burlesque Hall of Fame houses an unparalleled collection of artefacts from some of history's most famous dancers, including original boas, fans, gloves, pasties, and jewellery. Some of the exhibits explore the history of burlesque in the circus, a timeline of burlesque, feminism and burlesque, and a profile of famed dancer Gypsy Rose.

The annual Miss Exotic World pageant is held the first Saturday of every June as a fundraiser, with pageant winners often referred to as the "Miss America of burlesque." Notable winners include Stephanie Blake, Miss Indigo Blue, Christy Campbell, Cherry Malone, and Frankie Fictitious.

Good to know about the Burlesque Hall of Fame

The first thing to know is that the Burlesque Hall of Fame is not entirely family friendly. Though burlesque is tame by today's standards, many of the exhibits feature lingerie and at least partial nudity. You can pay on entry or secure reserve tickets. Discounts are available for college students and military (active or veterans).

Free parking is available in the Art Square car park. The museum is disability accessible—in fact, part of its mission statement is to incorporate diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and equity content into its exhibitions. To this end, it is also LGBTQIIA+ friendly.
