We arrived to a modern, clean hotel, and we were fortunate to get a parking spot for £10 for 24 hours. Saturday’s staff were professional and offered great customer service. Our room was modern and clean, with a comfy single bed for our child, and a spacious bathroom, though maintenance issues were noticeable—a missing basin waste cover and a soap dish that was falling off.
A major issue was the bedroom door; a large gap at the bottom allowed light to flood in at night, making it difficult to sleep. My husband ended up using cushions to block the light.
Breakfast was average, with awkward serving lids and lukewarm coffee from flasks.
On Sunday, we encountered an unhelpful checkout experience. When I mentioned the issue with the door, the staff member was dismissive, and her tone came across as passive-aggressive. She also became snippy when I asked if we could leave our car in the car park while we went into town briefly before departure. Fortunately, my husband remembered we still had plenty of time left on our 24-hour parking, so we were well within our rights to leave the car as we had planned. Everyone can have an off day, but a rude attitude towards guests doesn’t feel acceptable, especially in today’s competitive hotel industry.
Overall, Saturday was a positive experience, but Sunday’s service left us disappointed.
