When we arrived I requested non-feather pillows and duvets as my partner and I are both allergic to feathers. I did not request this in advance. I stay in a very large number of hotels in the UK and Europe and request non-feather bedding whenever necessary. This was the only hotel I have ever stayed in where my request could not be honoured. I was told that they could not be changed and this was because I had not pre-requested non-feather bedding. I was told that there was only a limited supply of non-feather bedding. I was told that as I had arrived at 9.00pm that it was not possible for non-feather bedding to be supplied. I therefore had a disturbed nights sleep and woke with a swollen face caused by the allergy. I was generally very disappointed with my stay at this hotel which I had been looking forward to with much anticipation. The ventilation in the rooms was appalling and I was very disappointed not be able to open a window. The air-conditioning/heating would not go below 18 degrees too. Although a small point all of the coffee pods for the machine in the room were decaffeinated. The rooms and corridor had more of a feeling of a hotel than a luxury hotel. The building is amazing and the decor is excellent in the bar/restaurant area. Overall I felt that the hotel did not have high enough standards of service and delivery that I would have hoped and expected for such an iconic location at the heart of Liverpool. I would be very unlikely to stay here again.
