2/10 Poor

Don't use.
There was no stay. 2 days before our stay we got offer to check in in email, we did so and even replied with the time of arrival. The day of arrival, when we were on the road with no access to email we got email from the owner telling us that property is under renovation and thus inaccessible. When we walked for about 15 minutes to the property in drenching rain, we found the property in state of reconstruction and abandoned, phone number provided was of no use, no one answered (tried about 10 times). Very poor time management. We found alternate accommodation ourselves and request a refund of the price paid for nonexistent stay.

Communication not a strength
As the property was closing for either renovations or being sold we weren’t told prior to arrival. There was a major lack of communication that the staff had to deal with. Completely unfair. They did then accommodate us at The Star Hotel which was an upgrade but our concerns were reimbursement being made if in fact we choose that. Turns out the location of The Star Hotel was a huge benefit.

Worst place to stay
Room was a dump, small, and no ambiance. Our window faced the dining room window 20 feet away. Bathroom was gross. Bed was uncomfortable. I think a hostel would have been better. Only good thing was the morning breakfast and the nice gentleman who prepared it

It’s a trip to a third world country but it’s England. Mattress must be 100 years old. Have to take turns turning around. Cannot believe Expedia listed this dump.

To be avoided
The young lady who received me was really very nice. The place was fairly clean in general. The facilities are really poor, however. I reported one of the two showers on the floor as being completely unusable, given the complete lack of water pressure. The other one had just barely enough to get wet. The hand-wash faucets didn’t work in either of the toilets on the floor. None of these was repaired. As for adventure , a small dog belonging to someone who visited made its way up the stairs and did its business on the carpet in front of my door. Thankfully, I saw it in time. I will not stay there again. For the same price, I recommend you go somewhere else, too.

when I checked in I wasn't. told how to get back in when I returned late at night. after I was dropped of by a taxi I found I was locked out. it was very dark so I couldn't, see what I was doing I was pressing door bells & banging on the door. Nobody came. It was midnight I am 81 years old & I found it very frightening as I do not know the area & I thought I was going to be locked out alnight. I walked to the main road & 2 young women helped me. They walked back to the house with me & one of them noticed the fob on my key ring she tapped it on the box by the side of the door & the door opened. I was so relieved if it Haden't been for them I don't know what I would have done. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. that could have been avoided if I was told about the fob on the key ring.

6/10 Good

Bed very comfortable, tv worked, shower good, everything clean, local area ok. No reception as such, no guest lounge, no information about local amenities, the staff member who let me in vague when asked. Breakfast not good - cooked food very overdone, coffee atrocious, breakfast room dark and dingy (and was the only place where I could wait for my taxi next morning). Washed hair only to realise no hairdryer (apparently these were available on request, I later read in the hall).
