Spring break. Perfect location to walk to Heavenly and casinos. Breakfast was nice and the staff is great. The elevator in the back is a bit scary a walking up 3 flights 3-4 times a day was a little exhausting. The channels on the TV are minimal.

The reason why it is a moderate rating overall is moderate-to-poor quality of breakfast (traditional American processed foods and poor bread quality) and the ambience during breakfast (FOX TV NEWS blasted from a large screen delivering its sensation-based and often untrue coverage). A more neutral TV station should be used. I asked a staff member to turn it off, and the manager refused (without having the courage to tell me face-to-face that he/she did not want to turn it off).

In the heart of South Lake Tahoe . Walking distance (within ~10 min) to many restaurants. Free hot breakfast is a great bonus very convenient for family to ski at Heavenly . Staff are very friendly as well! Highly recommended.

In need of maintenance and renovation
I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and will be staying for a week in two weeks time. There is a need for some maintenance and renovation to return the hotel to its former fine state. The heating only blew cold air. The friendly staff changed my room so I could stay warm. My new room was fine, the heating worked, but the TV and coffee machine did not work because the power supply was faulty. The breakfast is excellent, although the breakfast room is small and crowded. Lastly, the strong WiFi signal was not connected to the internet. When I called about this I was told it was the whole hotel. It was eventually fixed but the security level is so poor my MacBook did not want me to connect. I hot spotted through my iPhone.

This is NOT holiday Inn
It did not meet my expectation on a Holiday Inn though the overall experience was not too bad. It started with an impatient phone call when I confirm my arrival time. Some of them are unwilling to explain anything even for a second time. But some agents are really nice. Compared to those hotels below $100, the room is definitely cleaner. However it is still a bit old. The air conditioner begin to make a very loud noise like electric drill 5am in the morning. The hair dryer has a smell of burned rust. And the room’s car key is very easy to degauss. If on the same budget for my next trip, I’ll probably NOT choose it again.
