The V&A Waterfront combines shopping with harbour views and the excellent Two Oceans Aquarium. History buffs shouldn't miss Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, or the poignant District Six Museum. President Hotel
"Lovely hotel with fabulous staff. Nice bar and restaurant and great pool area. Rooms are spacious and comfy beds."
Hotel Verde Cape Town Airport
"We really appreciated the proximity of this hotel to the airport. The free shuttle was a big plus. We arrived at almost midnight due to flight delays and were gratified to see that the bar and kitchen was open until 1 a.m. The morning breakfast buffet was wonderful. Every staff member with whom we interacted was friendly and helpful. A great way to start our time in South Africa!"
Holiday Inn Express Cape Town City-Centre by IHG
"The property was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and I would recommend this stay."
The Rockefeller Hotel by NEWMARK
"Very friendly and helpful staff went out of their way to make this a wonderful stay. We got early check-in and our room was nice."
Taj Cape Town
"We absolutely loved our time here! For comparison, earlier we stopped over for one night in Cape Town during our trip and stayed at a supposed luxury hotel directly on the V&A Waterfront. It was awful. We were so glad we had booked a different hotel (The Taj) when we returned to Cape Town the second time, for our final leg of our South Africa trip, a 3 night stay before returning home. Upon entering we already knew it was so much better than the last hotel. Even without comparing, The Taj completely stands on its own in every category: Service: Amazing front desk staff, the bellman’s are so respectful and attentive. The housekeepers and waitstaff were full of smiles. Amazing service and staff. Dining: Wow!! The breakfast blew me away, from the menu to the buffet option, it was fresh, well prepared and delicious! We also ate at their restaurant, Bombay Brasserie, which was delicious! From the chefs tasting bites to the butter chicken, it was great! Spa: Two people in my party got massages (Warrior massages) from different people. One loved their massage and one thought it was okay. Overall, they enjoyed the spa services and would try another service. Overall, we loved our stay so much, we looked up the hotel brand of Taj Hotels and are planning to stay with them when we go to Dubai."
Canopy By Hilton Cape Town Longkloof
"Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Food was excellent"
City Lodge Hotel Victoria And Alfred Waterfront
"18 of us ... Terrific stay, super convenient so a 10/10 from us."
InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town by IHG
"The room was very clean. Our first room was facing a construction site and was noisy. Upon request, they moved us to a different room. It took them the whole day to get the room ready. The breakfast staff was numerous but slow. There were nice juices, but you need to ask for them. Coffee/tea service was very slow. The breakfast overall was amazing."
Road Lodge Cape Town International Airport
"Convenient location. Clean room. The staff was friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced. Only problem was no shuttle service! I have to pay $450 ( both ways) to the transportation company for the mere 7 mins ride. It’s not really safe walking down there at night."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Cape Town
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Cape Town is from June to August, when hotel prices are lower. To fully appreciate the city's iconic landmarks, cultural sites, and natural beauty, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended. During this time, visitors can enjoy budget-friendly activities such as hiking up Table Mountain, exploring museums that delve into the region's rich history, and indulging in fresh seafood along the coast. With great value for money on tours and sightseeing opportunities, this timeframe offers an excellent chance to experience Cape Town's vibrant culture and stunning scenery without breaking the bank.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers travellers looking for savings a chance to explore DealsOpens in a new window to Cape Town. You may discover last-minute bargains by checking the Last-Minute Deals section, where discounted hotel rates near your travel date could be available. The Smart Shopping tool on the app assists you in comparing hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re promptly informed when rooms become available or prices drop for your ideal getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a better deal on your stay in a Cape Town hotel. For those seeking something distinctive, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and may sometimes offer greater value. When you make a reservation with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, assisting you in your search for a suitable option.
- Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be pricier; however, with Cape Town's outstanding public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
