Sorry...The Thistle was not my cup of tea. The neighborhood was fine and the young man at the desk was very nice. It foyer looked great as you entered but I was given a large room on the ground floor/basement. My suite showed its wear...the beds were clean and neat and the bathroom was modern but the walls everywhere showed their age with darkened smudge marks. The window to the suite was held open about 4 inched by a block of wood. When I looked out there was nothing separating me from the outside..meaning wildlife could have gotten in...and the window frame was grotty looking. The window also could not be adjusted since the counter weights did not exist. For what I paid ( and for really any price) for this overnight stay, I had expected much more. Sorry, I'd pass this place up next time. In its day it may have been really special. Today...not so special.

After all those negative feedbacks I was worried but I have to say the hotel surprised me otherwise. My kids felt extremely comfortable and actually enjoyed it much better then their previous more modern hotel stay in London. They absolutely loved the kind and very helpful receptionist , they felt immediately at home and really enjoyed the few days they spend in this old world charming place. Additionally it is in a perfect location every sight in close walking distance. Yes it is old but that adds to it's charm and it shows but it is clean and very comfortable. Thank you for being part of making my daughter and her friends trip a success!

We turned up at mid day just to leave our bags there. We were told our room was ready so up we went to a very large bedroom! Very rarely do we get such an early check in so well done to the staff and reception. The hotel is situated in a quiet road about 15 a minute walk into the city. So ideal really. I would recommend this hotel for all the above reasons.

It’s an old building so I understand it can be difficult to maintain, but it needs a good cleaning, the furniture is shabby and dirty and needs to be replaced. There is no elevator so if walking stairs is an issue at all don’t book here. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Staff were very helpful, they were able to provide us with a lot of information on the area. There was no parking at the hotel so we had to leave our vehicle at a paid parking lot about 10 minute walk away (closest one) it cost me £80 ($150CAD) which was an unexpected expense. The breakfast was lacklustre but it’s better than no breakfast which is the norm. An FYI for those travelling with kids, there is no elevator as it is an old building so be prepared to carry your things. The staff were helpful in that we were able to leave our stroller in the lobby and they helped lug our stuff to the 3rd floor.
