This is an old-fashioned but charming place to stay. It is well located for a quick walk to the sights, and close to bus stops. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel has a comfortable bar. Our room was spotless and spacious (room 8), with a great view to the Firth of Forth. The bed was comfortable and the linens were of excellent quality. We definitely recommend this accommodation.

Upgraded for wonderful view (it was worth it). Room was comfortable, building is very quiet. Did not use any other 'amenities' or explore the rest of hotel as it did seem to be members only, which I respected. Be prepared to have a wait to collect your room key when you return to the hotel as they require the key be turned in each time you leave. Reception also could have done a better job of communicating that plumbing/water was undergoing construction which created water in pipes and jet sprays of water which soaked the bathroom & lots of 'chugging pipes'---3 days in a row! Overall a lovely, old world sort of place in a very peaceful and beautiful neighborhood.

My wife visited our daughter who is studying abroad in Edinburgh. I booked the Queen room with additional breakfast option. My wife reported that the staff was superb, the breakfast and accommodation was excellent. It was such a fantastic experience that I felt a bit of envy that I was unable to make the trip. Beautiful room, excellent bed and fantastic water pressure made it easy to get over the jet lag quickly. The staff was wonderful and when my college student joined her mom she raved about the food.
