I’m pretty easy with minimalist settings, which this was, with tiny room and aesthetics of retro Japanese business hotel. But the toughest part was room air conditioning. There were various settings for the high wall unit, but the room so small that they didn’t make any difference. Either on (blows hard, directly on my face) or off (squelching hot in late June. Price was over 10,000 yen, which is standard for small room but air conditioning was a killer. I’ve stayed in this chain before, but didn’t expect it to be this bad. Minimal service, self-serve amenities, all expected. Room phone couldn’t make outside calls, a bit surprising. Location was fine, just 5 minutes off the beaten path of Hamamatsu Cho. No way I’ll go back.
