Second stay, just as nice
This was our second stay here, and you can definitely see that they are gradually upgrading it. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and the views are lovely. We'll definitely be back.

8/10 Very good

Really enjoyed our stay especially the Sunday carvery and the view over the bay from the room. Excellent shops on the doorstep, easy access to the promenade and South Lakeland attractions a short drive away. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room had some minor maintenance that needed attention such as the extractor fan not working and there were no curtains (just a somewhat worn blind). Would stay again especially as it offers a more affordable and quiet alternative to accommodation in the national park.

Had a night here as a solo traveller and this place is fine for that. The room was clean and comfortable but not sure it would be for a longer stay. The rooms maintain the period features of this historic building so you have to accept the creaky floorboards etc. The staff were very friendly and the service was ok, I didn’t have the breakfast but a friend of mine who did said it wasn’t worth it. Parking was available in the car park nearby but I can easily imagine you could find it difficult on a busy weekend like a bank holiday. If you arrive before 6pm make sure to only pay up to 6pm. Then go back out and pay enough to cover your needs from 8am when the ‘meter’ starts again so to speak.

2/10 Poor

Beautiful view. Bed was like sleeping on a piece of slate that they use for shingles here. Woke, rather was awaken by work men at the break of dawn outside our 2nd story room scraping and preparing to paint the window frames. Needless to say, left after 1 night. Good and drink was good downstairs but sleeping was tough

The view over the bay is superb in a morning and the bed and bedding comfortable but it seems the whole room needs a handyman the whole pl room

4/10 Fair

Location good, staff friendly and efficient, room clean and bright, mattress tired, bathroom tired. Hot water from tap, nil to trickle, 5 mins to tepid. Hot water from shower, random nil to random full, random freezing to random scalding. This seems to be expected, don’t know how they have the nerve to offer accommodation.

Bit tired but ok
The hotel is in a great position Grange. Our room, which was clean and recently decorated, had brilliant view over Morecambe Bay. The staff were all very friendly and polite. However, the exterior of the hotel looks tired and inviting and the bathroom in the room was very small with no fan so the whole room steamed up. Breakfast was ok.

A lovely old inn. Handy for parking and beautiful bay views. Room we had was specious and nicely decorated. Sadly the bathroom needed some attention. We were unable to get any hot water at the washbasin. The shower? There's a note about it being an old building and that impacting on the water pressure. But the shower ran very hot or stone cold. Then ran for minutes at a time with a single trickle..... hopefully resolved in planned renovations.

Decent place. Some work needed though.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast. There are signs stating that work is ongoing to upgrade the building/rooms. I'll certainly consider returning to see the changes. Certainly some work is needed. Old sash window in our room difficult to open or close. The shower wasn't installed well, around the base. Everything was functional but creaked.

Loved the view from our room, lovely to sit and watch the world go by. There is a payable car park next to it, free from 6pm to 8am, or one hour free slots on the road. Had breakfast one day, we waited for the fresh breakfast to be cooked, waited 30 mins, with just a brew. Everyone else had been served and eaten. No complaints when it did arrive. We also tried butterfingers cafe across the road one morning which was lovely and can recommend the coffee pot too. The staff at the hotel were lovely. Only downside really was the shelf in the bathroom wasnt secure enough on the wall and the toilet seat was loose, as it was in the restaurant toilet too. Lol. Would stay again. Love the walk on the promenade and the gardens. Totally recommend paragon shop opposite the duck pond, for duck food, toys and amazing wallings ice cream. Great couple who own it.
