Find out more about Central & Western District

Central is where Hong Kong's skyscrapers are at their tallest, its galleries are at their boldest, and its night-life is at its brightest. On its slopes, rising steeply out of Victoria Harbor, Hong Kong old and new, East and West, comes together in a crackle of cultural fireworks. Within its bounds you'll find exclusive shopping malls in bright shining towers, superb dining in exclusive restaurants, and hidden terraced alleys with boutique art galleries and fascinating antique shops.

Hotels in Hong Kong Central

Luxury accommodation in Hong Kong Central isn't hard to find, with a host of 5-star hotels all clamoring for attention. The waterfront has one of the most sumptuous (and tallest) hotels in Central, the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Its 42 stories provide a fabulous view over the Harbor, while its 2 Michelin-starred restaurants reach gastronomic heights to match. The classy Upper House is another high-rise 5-star hotel in Hong Kong Central, rated for its amazing service and superbly appointed bar-lounge. A step down in size, but a step up in value, is the Ovolo Noho. Its 4-star accommodation offers some of the most competitive hotel rates in Hong Kong Central.

Things to see in Hong Kong Central

Many reckon that the best place to see Central's famed skyline is from Kowloon, across the Harbor. But the Hong Kong Observation Wheel gives you the best of both worlds, lifting you 200 feet up among Central's waterfront towers, while providing fantastic views onto Kowloon. The Central-Mid-Levels Escalator offers a less dizzying means of ascending Central's heights. At over 800 yards in length and climbing around 440 feet, it's claimed to be the longest outdoor escalator in the world. It runs through the Soho district, which can claim to be Hong Kong's oldest district. Here you'll find numerous old-town stores, antique shops, and art galleries, as well as the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum. This is dedicated to the fascinating story of a Chinese national hero. Lastly, don't forget a visit to Pacific Place, one of Hong Kong's finest temples to retail luxury, showcasing both local boutiques and global luxury brands.

Good for well-heeled travelers

As its name suggests, Hong Kong Central is where all that's most exciting about this world-class city comes together in celebration. You'll find shopping that ranges from sumptuous brand names to intriguing street markets; culture that includes top-rated museums and tiny boutique art houses; and a nightlife scene that is truly legendary. That makes it hugely in demand with all sorts of travelers. So a hotel in Hong Kong Central is a gateway to every kind of adventure, provided that your budget is broad enough to indulge in the best that the Pearl of the Orient has to offer.

How to get to Hong Kong Central

Those flying into Hong Kong arrive at Hong Kong International Airport, some 20 miles out of town. There are excellent public transportation routes into Central, the quickest being the Airport Express train service. It will speed you to Hong Kong Station in 24 minutes. This is close to many of the district's main hotels, but there's also a free shuttle bus connecting to those further out. A less expensive option is to travel to Hong Kong Central from the airport on the A22 bus. Change at the Jordan Road stop to catch the metro for the last leg to your hotel.
