2/10 Poor

The receptionist is in the wrong business
There was a mix up regarding a double booking. Theresa, the receptionist, was impossible to deal with. She yelled at me, hung up, refused to answer when I called back. This occurred before we even arrived. The third party booking agency had to intervene, Theresa was rude and inhospitable. I traveled with the sales and marketing director for the Marriott Ranch, and a long time customer service manager at a large feed distributor, they were flabbergasted by the overt rudeness. The issue was initially resolved by the booking agency until Theresa cancelled our reservation on the last day and tried to tell us to leave the hotel! Beautiful peaceful setting but the management is clueless.

4/10 Fair

Rams Head Inn is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, our stay did not match up to the price or the description that we were given. Initial welcome was pleasant and but we couldn’t check in early without paying $100! What? NO! We were told they would call when room was ready. At 3:30 I checked front desk and it was ready but no phone call ever. Our room was not a king balcony as described by Expedia as there are no balconies in the entire hotel. Instead, we were given a two room “suite”with a bathroom in between the two rooms. The bedding, sheets, towels were lovely, but the decor was tasteless and cheap. We ate one meal there which was completely overpriced and over salted. The dining areas outside are beautiful overlooking a sloping lawn to a small bay. Service was friendly and efficient. No indoor seating as there is no lobby. Housekeeping left trash and used glasses. Owner offered NO apology or offers to do anything to make our stay better. Will NEVER stay here again or recommend. Front desk staff seemed untrained and gave misinformation. Owner appeared distracted with the fact that she owns a hotel but does not offer true hospitality - just fluff! Breakfast a total JOKE!!

The Ram's Head Inn is a perfect example of an Inn with everything at it's fingertips, with no idea how to treat its customers. While the grounds and Inn itself are beautiful, I was quite disappointed at the level of service for the rate of over $550 per night. Not only was our room incredibly cramped and small (lacking basic equipment such as hair dryers, iron, etc.), and the service at the restaurant for dinner was painfully slow and inattentive, but the one thing an Inn of this caliber which claims it has free breakfast should provide - a hot, homemade breakfast, was not provided. The cheap, cold bites and Keurig coffee was not a welcoming sight. They clearly wanted us to wait until 11am to buy breakfast from their sub-par, overpriced restaurant. Additionally, the woman behind the counter had an attitude. The whole time I was there, I felt as though I was burdening them by my presence. Save yourself the anguish and don't stay here!

Historic property on a great piece of land. Out of the way in the best ways. There is a major staffing, service, training and management gap here tho. Perhaps growing pains under new ownership as everyone was trying their best and friendly, just seemed like lots of gaps and struggles. I’m loyal to the place and will return, and most lodging out east has some degree of struggle in this regard, but this was time it was very hard to get any needs met in a timely or thorough manner.

The Rams Head Inn was picture perfect…set up on hill overlooking the pretty beach below. The attention to detail from the wonderful staff made our weekend getaway a truly unforgettable experience. Looking forward to our next visit.

Comfortable, cozy and quiet off-season.
My wife and I were the only guests for night 1 of our 2-night stay last week. Two other guests arrived on our 2nd night. Theresa at the front desk was helpful and friendly, giving us local restaurant info upon our arrival and calling restaurants for us to determine when, and if they were open. The Inn’s restaurant was not open during our Tuesday to Thursday morning stay. Tyler, the manager, was also very helpful and accommodating. He talked to us about the property, the area history and made us feel very comfortable. The property is private and a great spot for the sunset, which we enjoyed from the patio overlooking the beach area. We explored historically significant places on the Island, thanks to the SI Chamber of Commerce booklet and website. We really enjoyed our ½ day hike in the Mashomack Preserve. The restaurants we really enjoyed were Isola, Stars Café, The Islander.

An OK experience
The Ram's Head Inn location is fantastic and the 'backyard' grounds are really nice/comfortable with beautiful water views. It was nostalgia that brought us to stay here, having spent youthful summers on the North Fork. The staff were all very sweet and accommodating. The bedroom was an adequate size given the age of hotel, however, the in-room bathroom left a lot to be desired. It's small, extremely dated and in need of repair/replacement items, with very poor shower water pressure. The morning's included breakfast was delightful with very nice touches, but while we enjoyed our dinner, it was overpriced compared to the quality/portion at countless other local restaurants. Similarly, the room rate price was high for what you get, and it was a bit ridiculous to be charged an additional $40 for 1 hour of pickleball played on a concrete slab 'court' marked by torn/worn painter's tape.
