Nice place…
Had to find an inexpensive room for me and three other men and Rips was it. Bed was comfortable and the night manager/owner was very accommodating. If I’m in the area again I will stay there again.

The room was full of stink bugs. I spent a majority of my night trying to get rid of them. I could hear them flying around me while I tried to sleep. I saw several of them crawling all over the walls and ceilings. It was disturbing and made it hard to sleep.

It's conveniently located. Room needs to be updated really badly. Wash rags looked used.

It was very quiet and the area is very close to alot of shopping. The room had no microwave, or hot water cup. Thier was no napkins and very low bathroom tissue.

The room size was fine. There was a stain on one of the chairs and we were only given two towels. Also, the night lights on of the beds didn't work. The restaurant was nice for lunch but part of the reason that I got the room was bc they offered a bar, restaurant and package good store on the premises. Despite the fact that we stayed on a Saturday night, we were disappointed to find that everything was closed by 9 p.m. This was especially surprising and disappointing since they were near a professional baseball stadium, another reason why we selected this room. The desk service was nice enough. I would recommend the restaurant before a baseball game but I would probably stay at another nearby hotel with similar facilities, especially if you like to contribute the fun at a bar or restaurant after the game.

Dont stay at Rips Country Inn
Our room was clean but very old and rundown. No coffee, no hairdryer. Staff indifferent and difficult to reach. Poison ivy growing through the wooden sidewalk. 1 towel and 1 washcloth per room. No ice bucket then you have to ask for ice. Staff acts suspicious of you. We will absolutely not stay there again. This is their cash cow but they dont invest or upkeep.

Good for one night
The staff is friendly, the bed was comfortable, the shower water pressure and temperature were great. Also, the location if the motel is very convenient. However, the motel is in desperate need of renovations. The carpet on the floor in our room was quite soiled and there was mold in the shower and the AC unit. Glad we only stayed for one night.

This property is pretty dated, and the rooms are ok. Nothing fancy. You get what you see in the photo. Very Basic.

Rips Motels in Bowie MD
Stayed at Rios so that we could enjoy the Maryland Renaissance Faire. Room was cheaper than any other in the area. Very good price, fast check in. Room was fine for 2 nights. Water pressure was the best of any hotel I have ever stayed at.. Bed was okay, need larger pillows. but the room itself was large and had decent furniture in it. TV was a bit outdated, not high def.

good enough
I almost didnt have a room because they couldn't find my reservation with my name until I gave him my reservation number so the proccess took like 20 minutes but other than that the stay was good for what I paid for.

Room was very smelly and I didn’t feel comfortable staying there. This is an Inn for night workers and truck drivers. I don’t advise that anyone else stay there. I spent 2 min in the room and left. Lost my money on the two night stay. You’re better off at the comfort inn one block away.

It was okay.
Atayed for 3 nights. The room was okay but the bathroom was extremely cold. I had to cut the heat on and let it run for a couple hours so the room could warm up enough for me to take a shower. Also, had to plug up the fridge and upon looking inside of it, I saw that it needed to be cleaned. Overall, the room was fine.

Needs renovations & better linens
Check in was OK. Very few, poor quality linens. No microwave in room. Shower was ancient and dripped all night. Carpet was stained. Large gap under exterior door led to bugs coming in.

Okay if you're desperate
About as basic as a room can get. No bath mat, no extra towels, a container for tissues in bathroom but it was empty. No water glasses, no laundry bag, certainly no coffee. I suppose the rooms are fumigated regularly since the only cockroaches I saw were dead.
Mary E, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

The room was clean, neat and the furnishings very nice. The lighting was good too especially for reading. There was no waste container at all, no bath/shower mat when stepping out of the shower onto a tile floor which was slippery with wet feet. Also no coffee or plastic cups for water and no continental breakfast which we knew. It was a clean acceptable place for a clean bed for one night at a lower rate than the surrounding area. Not great but not terrible either. Hard to find as was set back behind another business.

Nicer, newer places nearby at same price point
Hotel was okay and clean enough but very dated with original bathrooms, no amenities and our bathroom window was unlocked with a hole punched in the screen on the first floor. Phones/ light fixtures/smoke detectors had been removed off the walls and replaced but the damaged places on walls were just left as is. At $110/night, it was way overpriced as several newer, cleaner and nicer hotels are available nearby at that same price point, we just happened to be in town during an event when other hotels were booked. The hotel has a lobby but it was locked and check in was through a tiny sliding window as if the area was unsafe (although the area appears to be in a safe and normal looking strip mall and we checked in at 3:30 in the afternoon). Although I had already paid online I was asked for my drivers license then asked to sign a carbon copy of something?? The front desk person did not speak English and was unable to tell me what I was signing and did not give me a copy. There are no coffee makers in the room, no lobby to provide coffee and no free coffee was offered at the onsite restaurant, also called Rip’s. I also found it odd that such a dumpy motel would have a updated restaurant featuring dinner entrees ranging from $18-35.
