We were in Dortmund for a football match. We stayed in this Mercure the first night (the Centrum one for the second night). This Mercure was nowhere near as good as the Centrum one. The entrance, when you find it, is just a door. Then use an elevator to 3rd floor for check-in. This one was £144 a night, the other £257, so this one cheaper. But there's a reason for that.
When approaching from the main station you can see the sign on the roof, but there;'s no entrance. So you go around the side and see another vertical sign - but no entrance. Backwards and forward, then a full circuit of the block reveals that you have apprached from the back and there is no signage to tell you to go around to the other street. Then you enter thru' a glass door and go up in the elevator. Signs and advice is in short supply.
The hotel is tired.
Hair dryer was very week. Bath towels are not very big.
And the usual question - would I stay there again. The answer is No, I wouldn't - unless it was desperate. Use the other Mercure and pay the extra.
