We've stayed at the parklane suite, which is a detached wing of the hotel, completely separate from the main property.
While I'm sure the main hotel lives up to it's 5-star designation, the parklane suite was anything but. The building itself was quite old and looked in need of some renovations. The room was outdated, and aging furniture was clearly visible. The living space and amenities were fairly limited, and the experience truly fell short of a 5-star hotel, or even a 4-star hotel. The parklane suite at best felt like a 3-star motel. Keep in mind, this hotel includes multiple buildings under the same name, which might not be clearly outlined during reservations.
On the other hand, the service here was quite excellent, and the hotel staff were very welcoming and considerate, but the accommodation itself was quite disappointing to say the least.
Overall, the hotel has a nice heritage vibe to it, but the stay at the parkland suite did not live up to expectations. Given the price and the high designation of this hotel, it was a very disappointing experience in the otherwise beautiful city of Singapore.
