The hotel is fantastic - great decor visually in all the spaces, but also well thought out, and the room was really well done too, with lots of extras and plenty of space. Powerful shower and extremely comfortable bed!
The restaurant is amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner and on top of it all there is a venue downstairs with occasional events. When I was there there was a great gig that felt very special - I was very glad to have stumbled on that (I should add that this finished at a reasonable time and I didn't notice it being disturbing from the room).
Above all, the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, welcoming and patient - organising cars for onward trips and transfers and with general advice. I went out in the immediate area in the day and felt safe, although I was warned about being sensible and careful with belongings at various times which made me a little extra cautious (this seems to be the case in Cape Town and other cities generally, not specific to the area immediately around the hotel, although if I'd gone out at night I would have taken a car rather than walking). Geographically, the location is good though, with a market nearby and a few museums - and it's very easy to take a car to various other sites.
