Liverpool John Lennon Airport
The nearest international airport to Blackpool is Liverpool John Lennon Airport. It sits on the north bank of the River Mersey, 63 miles away of the popular seaside resort on the northwest coast of England. There are several transfer options to reach Blackpool from Liverpool airport:
- A taxi takes around 1 hour and half. The taxi rank can be found just outside the terminal building.
- The bus takes around 2 hours and half. The bus stop is right in front of the terminal.
- The local bus and train take around 2 hours and half. The bus stop is right in front of the terminal. The trains depart from Liverpool South Parkway station.
- Car rental agencies including Avis, Europcar and Hertz can be found in the arrivals hall of the terminal.
Blackpool North Railway Station
Blackpool North is the main railway station in Blackpool. Open 24/7, it’s served by major UK cities including London, Liverpool, Manchester, York and Birmingham. The train station hosts a good choice of facilities including a coffee shop, ATM machines and a newsstand. From here, you can get to your hotel by bus, tram or taxi.

How to get around Blackpool?
Travel tips
The most pleasant way to explore Blackpool is on foot. The city centre is rather compact and features landmarks and attractions such as the Madame Tussauds Museum, the Blackpool Tower Dungeon and the Sea Life Blackpool oceanarium within walking distance of the Town Hall. The city centre is also home to a good choice of dining and shopping options.
For longer journeys, the public transport services are efficient and affordable. Bus and tram networks permit you to go anywhere in Blackpool and further afield to Preston and Lytham St Annes, 2 neighbouring seaside resorts.
