Bad book keeping or scamming?
We drove here from Monument Valley and there was no one around when we arrived at about 3:30 PM- it was a ghost town. I walked around and knocked on doors with no luck. I also tried calling their phone # which was disconnected. We dawdled for at least an hour to see if an employee would show up but it started getting late so we headed to Tuba City and got a room at the Navajoland Hotel which was great. Hotels.com comped our room that night after I explained that we had driven hours out of our way to see and stay at Second Mesa, which ended up being a less than ideal use of time since we couldn’t stay there. Lo and behold, the Hopi Cultural Center still charged me for the room! Today is December 18 and the charge still hasn’t been resolved. Hotels.com and I have received conflicting stories: they told me they’ll credit the charge, but hotels.com that they contacted me with check-in instructions, which was a lie. Maybe you could have a good experience here if you work with the right person, but I recommend using cash.

The staff are very friendly. The building is old but fairly clean. There is a restaurant next to the front desk where you can enjoy Native American foods.

The staff were very friendly and helpful during a very busy time. We ate meals together with our large family and they did a great job accommodating us. The parking lot had good vendors selling their Hopi arts and crafts.

The hotel was very nice -- room was spacious and clean. Staff were professional and courteous. Unfortunately, there was no town (i.e., attractions, shopping, restaurants) nearby!

No room at the inn
We needed a late check-in, made contact with hotel earlier and they said contact within a day of our stay. I tried to call and I was left with the option to email. We emailed we would arrive late, no response, we were left with no alternative but to go anyway. We were not able to contact anyone upon arrival and left without a room and we had to travel over an hour to get a room.

It was an awesome experience to be able to actually stay on an active reservation. Staff were ALL friendly & went out of their way to be helpful and answer questions. We plan on an annual trip to Arizona & plan to stay here again. We both look forward to seeing more local activities on our next stay.

A lightning strike had occurred close to or in the parking lot of the cultural center. So a medicine man/religious Council was called in to rid the area of bad stuff. So the drum beat and chanting went on well past 2300 and we had to wake up at 0300. I liked it and wanted to open our windows to hear better but my wife wasn’t having it as it kept her a
