Damp Room
This was our fourth stay at Hotel Academy. We came in 2018, 2022, and twice this October. The first three stays were wonderful, it is why we returned. However, this last stay was not very good. We were in one of the outside rooms and it was so humid in the room everything felt damp. The sheets on the bed were very damp and overall we felt like we were sleeping in a swamp. We did not sleep well and felt terrible on the morning from the dampness. The other concern was the very grouchy service person at breakfast. On both of our stays this month he was quite rude and he was coughing while making coffee. The front desk staff were very good and very helpful.

Overrated. Underwhelming.
Frequently in/out of FCO, we often need overnight hotels for convenience to the airport. Fiumicino is a good location for this as riverfront is lively and has some good food. Recently, they have generally been worse. Perhaps getting to the end of the season is the cause. This hotel was very highly rated, specifically for cleanliness. It was disappointing. Room #5 - walls thin, doors thunking through the night, clatter from breakfast setup from early morning; bed is in dire need of replacement, like a trampoline; dirty- trash from last tenant still in the bin, their contact lens stuck to the TOP of the nightstand, room consistently cleaned as though it were round…accumulated mold and mildew in/around shower…definitely not Covid sanitized. Generally unfriendly staff. Think they were all tired. We will move on to try another.

The staff was wonderful to deal with, friendly and helpful both when we arrived late as well as early in the morning. We booked this hotel as it was close to the airport as we were arriving very late, but then we had a hard time getting to the location as taxi didn't want to miss out on a larger fair. Ended up paying the larger fair so we could just get to a bed. The room was clean, pretty, and comfortable to sleep in. They helped in the morning for us to arrange a ride into the city.
