Not luxury, but lovely!
We had a lovely stay here between xmas and New Year. Described as 'luxury' isn't, the hallways and rooms are very tired although comfortable, we had a sofa in our room that was quite stained. But our lovely kingsize bed was gorgeous and we slept very well! But what it lacked in luxury was made up with superb customer service, the staff were amazing and we give them 5 stars! And the! Centrally located for everything, We would stay again.

Do NOT stay in “The Vault”
We were group of 5 and one person was sick with food poisoning on the day we were checking.. we arrived just before 11 and asked for early check-in which was not available so we went to eat lunch and came back around 12 to drop off our sick person in the lobby. The person at the front desk said that they would keep an eye on him while we were out exploring.. 3 hours later we return expecting to check into our room and were told it wasn’t ready. We were strung along for the next TWO hours and didn’t check in until 5pm meanwhile we watched every other guest get access to their rooms. When I complained about it, I was told that they don’t guarantee check in at 3pm. Um excuse me? When is checkin time not guaranteed and why would a privately owned hotel not ensure a 3pm check in when one of the guests is visibly sick in your lobby for HOURS? We were given a free round of drinks after one of my many complaints and then given another free round of drinks once 5 o’clock rolled around as well as free breakfast in the morning but unfortunately that does not make up for our poor check in experience. Additionally, the microphones to the karaoke machine didn’t work, one of three mirrors didn’t have a working light and every time you used the sink or toilet in the main room, a loud rumbling noise would go off and the sink in the kitchen would go off as well. Let’s not forget that it’s in the basement so you hear footprints every time someone walks in the lobby. We got zero sleep!!

Not a Totally happy stay
Rooms are described as ‘luxury’ but ours was definitely not. Large Holes in the walls where At some point, a picture or mirror once hung, many cracks in the ceiling and walls, holes in the bathroom walls where, presumably guests had hit them, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the lighting poor. Parking extremely limited and the suggested car park cost £17 per day! On the plus side It’s close to the city centre...

Great place to stay
Lovely place to stay right in the heart of Chester. We were travelling as a family and had the 2 rooms on the top floor to ourselves. Apart from the many (50ish) stairs it was lovely. Staff were very helpful and we were able to leave our car until 3pm the next day while we explored. Shower was very 'light' on pressure but breakfast made up for it - was good and plentiful.

3 generation weekend away.
This was a 3 generation weekend away, shopping, relaxing and spending quality time together. We had a wonderful experience, lovely hotel, friendly, helpful and welcoming staff, and a comfortable warm and clean room. We would highly recommend and would return.

The Townhouse looked very festive especially bar and restaurant areas, they said they had xmas parties on Sat eve. Our room was in the front so I listed to screaming, talking, singing, men yelling all night. I thought it would stop by 3am but it continued until 5am so never slept. I should have cancelled my booking really because two weeks previous I had a gallbladder removal operation an was quite tender still, but because money was taken out of my account soon after I’d booked we decided to come and reserved Cafe Rouge just up the road. We left at lunchtime Sunday although we’d paid for that evening too, no refund was offered to me, I could not go shopping as Id planned before the date of my op came. If we come again I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel. I’t was no-ones fault, staff were lovely, bed comfy just that it was noisy in the street! Maybe double glazing would be better in the front of the hotel. Thanks

Lovely central hotel
Lovely hotel very central and decorated beautifully for Christmas, small car park but we got on ncp just round corner and they gave 30% discount so that was good

Would recommend
Nice place to stay, ideally located, does have parking but limited spaces, and do have to pay which isn’t mentioned. Well sized rooms, although only lamps to light the room, bed was two singles pushed together, would benefit from better pillows. Room could do with a paint as marks everywhere. But really nice place for a night away
