Lovely B&B not far from the city
Had a fantastic one night stay at Brookside with my mum, just before Christmas. We'd booked to visit the Lanterns at Chester Zoo (definitely a must-see) and wanted a base that was close enough to town but far enough out to have parking. Check in was straight forward and the lady that greeted us (I missed her name) was very informative and told us about everything that was happening in Chester over the weekend. There's plenty of parking (even if, like us, you lose your spot to a later arrival when you leave the B&B!), if not on the car park then surrounding roads. There's a bus into the city from opposite the B&B, which runs regularly, meaning you can leave the car for a drink or two in one of the city's many restaurants. The B&B itself is lovely. We had two rooms - one 4-poster (free upgrade) and one standard double. Both had all the amenities you would expect. Very clean, comfy beds, and a very hearty (tasty) breakfast with plenty of options. We had a lovely chilled evening after the lanterns sitting in one of the various nooks and crannies of the lounge area - lovely atmosphere and very welcoming. Overall a fantastic stay, and if we go to Chester overnight again, I wouldn't hesitate to book there again - thank you to all of the staff!

Small room.
We were disappointed with our room. It was just adequate. Ok for two nights but would't have wanted to stay any longer. It was on the top floor and a bit too small. Breakfast was excellant. Lots of choice. Would have liked some fresh berries.

Highly recommend!
Our stay at Brookside was amazing from check in to our departure. Jack, at the front desk, gave us a map and was happy to make suggestions for places to visit. Our room was very clean and pleasant. The hotel has a wonderful, cosy lobby with a bar. We spent part of the evening there chatting. Breakfast was akso quite good. The hotel is a short, pleasant walk to pubs, restaurants and the Roman walls.

Brookside Chester
On first impression the room looked nice but after the first night we both found the pillows very hard and uncomfortable to sleep in and didn’t sleep very well. Also we were only given bottled water, filter coffee and cookies on the first night but not on the second and third night. Parking was difficult especially with a huge Range Rover taking up lots of space, we were told parking wouldn’t be a problem!

Top service
I can’t speak more highly of this property. Everything went well from arrival to leaving. Staff were very very pleasant and you felt really welcome. Information was provided in a folder in the room which covered everything I needed to know. I particularly liked the provision of menus and although I didn’t stay for dinner because of arrangements to meet friends it sounded delicious. Breakfast menu was there too so I was fully prepared when I got down in the morning and it was great. It’s a 10 minute walk into Chester centre but they will call you a taxi if you wish and even tell you how much to expect to pay. Room was adequate for my needs and no problem with it. Hotel is set in a quiet residential area and I got a good nights sleep both nights I stayed. On returning home I realised that I had left my phone charger and cable in the room. No problem, just a phone call and it was posted to my home without any fuss. Thanks to Jack for sorting that out.
