This was a last-minute booking, selected primarily for its location, but offering comfortable accommodation which matched our needs. Had time permitted, it would have been nice to try the Leisure Facilities, but this was sadly not possible as our time was too short.
We received a warm welcome at reception and check-in, in spite of the lateness of reservation, was efficient and effortless. On entering the allotted room, however, it was as if we were walking into a refrigerator, as the window had been left open with outside temperatures of around minus 2c. Luckily the receptionist agreed that this was unacceptable (as it would have taken too long to get comfortably warm at such a late hour) and we were given an alternative room which was warm, clean and comfortable; well furnished and with a TV screen hidden behind a mirror, plus a great shower.
Advised that I was still in good time to eat in the restaurant, I went down for dinner and received incredibly disappointing service - the starter was served at the exact same time as the main; the main was not hot; the requested water wasn't delivered in spite of reminding the waiter. When advised that the kitchen would be closing after 15 minutes, the waiter then brought a bottle of water, followed by my requested coffee. Breakfast service was equally poor - seemingly a good selection but poorly replenished and a lack of tables prepared for customers.
A good stay overall, but improvements needed in the restaurant.
