This was literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The best thing that could be said about the staff is, they’re polite. Not friendly. Not engaging. Polite. I paid for an ocean view deluxe double room. Ocean view, check. Not sure beyond that what was deluxe. The restaurants inside the hotel are frankly ridiculously priced. Feel free to walk over to the nearby pizza place or burger joint. You’ll wish you were staying at either of those because THEIR staff doesn’t act like you’re going to steal something. Also, charging $5,000 won for a bucket of ice, when someone who is paying $250/night an otherwise basic room is extremely tacky. You should be embarrassed about that. Lastly, I left an item in my hotel room and talked with and emailed with COUNTLESS staff. Different people would call me. One person said it would be 120,000 won to return it. Another, 70,000. One staffer asked me if I was Michael (I have no idea who Michael is, but this definitely increased my stress about getting my item back.) This is a luxury hotel that clearly deals with a lot of western clients, yet not one staff person was capable of making this as simple as “Yes, we found your item & we will be happy to post it to you tomorrow.” (Same with the ice. Again, don’t charge your customers for ICE. Ice is free at hotels that are a mere $65 a night and we don’t need anyone to bring it to us.)
