Away from the hustle and bustle of its old quarter location, an unassuming alley leads to the grand peridot hotel lobby. It is spacious, air conditioned, and decorated to the highest standard. The friendly hotel staff were always at hand, to greet and assist. All staff should be commended on their excellent English skills. Upon check-in we were treated to complimentary drinks and snacks, although the snacks weren't to our personal liking. Check-in was trouble free and the room was clean, with a nice decor. The high water pressure from the bath and waterfall shower head was a welcome surprise, as this can be hard to come by in Vietnam, even expensive chains such as Vinpearl can't match up with the Grand Peridot here. The cocktails were good, although quite expensive when compared to the cocktails that can be found at Vinpearl, which were of a similar standard. The rooftop terrace bar offers an exceptional views over the city, as well as a nice atmosphere. Our highlight of our stay was the rooftop infinity pool, which offers those same exceptional views over Hanoi. The pool is large, and the water is clean, with a spa-like water composition. When the sun is out, it may be worth visiting the downstairs jacuzzi to escape the heat. There are many nice places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. For longer journeys within Hanoi, it may be worth requesting a taxi from the hotel lobby, this will most likely work out cheaper than flagging a taxi from the street.
