Oceanside Resort with Good Food and Pool Lifestyle

Very good resort at the "front door" to Acadia. We like this big style resort with three restaurants, pool, and hot tub. It sits right on the ocean, so the view is excellent, and it's convenient to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Ellsworth eateriesl The breakfast is served in La Bella Vita, which is the same restaurant as found in Bar Harbor, on West St., in the Harborside Hotel. Stewman's Lobster Pound is also located at this resort and in Bar Harbor. Lots of staff are wroking hard to provide hospitality in different ways: at the front desk, at the restaurants and Tiki Bar, and in housekeeping. Staff tried hard to meet all our special requests, for example, for more coffee in our room or clean towels at the pool. The two sides of the hotel are very different. I suggest staying on the ocean view side. The other side overlooks the parking lot and is noisy from road traffic all the time. There's no "garden" or "courtyard" to look at, so the description is misleading. I'm not sure of the room rate price difference, but my "parking lot overlook" room was too expensive, and the hotel did not offer to upgrade me (free or with a cost, either way) when I arrived for a 4-night stay. If it were only 1 night, I wouldn't mind, but for 4 nights, I would have appreciated being on the ocean, and quiet, side. Also, the included breakfast can be slow and you have to pay for tax and tip, which means you pay something again for it. (Giving a tip to the service staff is not something to dispute, though)

I never leave detailed reviews. But it was horrible. Worst hotels.com experience ever. Front desk wasn’t staffed 10pm on. Room was dirty. Elevator was dirty. Hall was dirty. Over priced. Mediocre restaurant. We saw families that were so disappointed they just went home.

Eden house is basically a mildewy motel

I should start off by saying we've stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in Bar Harbor twice before (in the main building) and were happy with our stay. This time, they booked us into the 'Eden House' -- it's facing the noisy highway, with a view of gardening equipment and a ridiculously bright light shining directly into the room. Worse was the intense smell of mildew and the dampness that crept into everything we left in the room. In addition, the amenities in the room were basic roadside motel style (e.g. no lid on the toilet, no bathrobes erc) -- not what I would expect for more than $600 a night.

Check in was easy and quick and the pool was amazing! Great service at the pool bar and nothing can beat pizza and pina coladas poolside!! One drawback is that the hotel is not walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor but otherwise very relaxing!

    A bit disappointed

Disappointed with where our room was. We were put in a separate building than the main hotel which wasn’t specified when I booked. This building was way more outdated and not as clean as the main building. The staff was not helpful or friendly. The only thing we really enjoyed was the view, the pool, and location.

Didn't get a room in the main building where each room has a balcony. Room in Eden building was old/not updated, walls thin (noise), windows don't open, hallway smelled. Expected so much more for the price and was very disappointed. Seems the staff is used to customer dissatisfaction so somewhat callous to it. Prior to Covid I travel 150 days/year. I know what I can expect. This was disappointing.
