This was an amazing space to stay in. Could have used more towels, and two of the showers we had a hard time operating the energy saver valves. We will stay again next time we are there and have recommended to family members. Extremely impressed with our stay and the area the hotel is in.

Gorgeous
Wonderfully redone historic building. Almost like a boutique art hotel. Gorgeous. Everything was beautiful, staff was friendly and helpful. Our bed was like, lop-sided, like one side was higher than the other. Not the best nights sleep, but I told the front desk when we left so I’m sure they’ll fix it.

Weeknight stay at The 1857
Very nice small boutique hotel. Had a queen room, bed was very comfortable. There was only one chair which was fine since I was traveling solo. The heating system was a little challenging to figure out and it kept turning off which is my reason for only 4 stars. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking while I was there, could be an issue if there is an event at the performing arts center across the street.

The front desk worker was not friendly. The room had historical charm but was too small for two people. There was no place to hang clothes /coats except two hooks on either side of the open access shower. We had to put our jackets on the bed to keep them dry so we could have a shower. There was no fridge in the room and no breakfast. The location was walkable to downtown restaurants and sites.

We stumbled on this place after a long day of driving. It was further off the expressway than we intended to go but we loved it when we got there. Cute, quaint, very friendly staff, cute old bar and, even though it was closed, they lets us in for a glass of wine. We hope to go back and explore the area a bit and we'll stay at 1857.

Will never stay again!
Could hear people entering and exiting the building as well as walking up steps on both sides of the room. Triple ensure you don’t forget anything in your room on checkout. Their policy is to “throw it away” no matter what it is.

We were only in for an evening. Staff was great! Walked around town- would highly recommend Freight House for dinner - pricy but so worth it and you won’t leave hungry or disappointed. We heard Max was a great spot for brick oven pizza. Breakfast we went to Gold Rush - great breakfast and customer service!!!

Lovely historic building. Room was on the small side but cozy and comfortable. Nice decor although a bit worn in places. Huge shower with rain shower and hand held. The negative: The walls are paper thin. Let's just say, others WILL hear what you're talking about (or doing for that matter) so take care.
