Morning Noise, Extra Charges, No Elevator
The desk staff was very friendly and eager to help. But you need to know some things before you book. The blocks on both sides of the hotel are major construction sites, and that's not going to be finished anytime soon. The noise starts at about 6:30 am. Idle construction workers block the sidewalks and take up all available street parking (no wonder the projects take so long). They aren't particularly inclined to move out of the way for people carrying suitcases. They just kind of glare at you like you are in their territory. Streets are in horrible shape because of construction. Also, when I arrived, I was assigned a third floor room and informed that the elevator is "being upgraded," which meant it doesn't work. So be prepared to lug your stuff up six flights of stairs (the facility has split floors) if you are assigned a room at the top. The carpets really made me happy I brought slippers, but I think the sound would carry if the place wasn't carpeted. I heard people in the next room (through a locked suite door) as clearly as if they were in my room. Finally, for all this, after I booked online and pre-paid, I got hit with an additional daily $35 "conveniences" charge. That seems pretty deceptive to me, either on the part of the hotel or Hotels.com, not sure which. The upside, the location is convenient for a lot of LA and Swingers restaurant -- a hipster hotspot since 1993 -- is open until 3 am, and the food is decent with vegetarian and vegan options.

Just okay
Elevator was broken. TV did not work at first, but we were able to troubleshoot. Overall pretty cute place, but missed the mark on the details. Best thing about it was the convenient location - pretty much a 5 min. uber or 15 min. walk from anything we wanted to do.

On the plus side, the hotel was in a convenient location for me. I was there working long days on a project so amenities mattered little. It was clean, and the on-site parking was included in the price. However, the elevator was out of service, making the trek from the garage to the 2nd floor with luggage tiresome. There is no maid service...but the price reflects that.

Birthday getaway from South Dakota
We traveled from South Dakota to LA for a quick birthday trip. We had never been there before. The staff was so helpful and friendly, especially the young man from Turkey! The rooms were impeccable. I am very particular about cleanliness and this exceeded my expectations. We will stay here again.

#101 not a great room.
I stay here because it is near Cedar's Sinai. This time I got the first floor, the beds were not comfortable, and it was very noisy near the stairs and other areas that run all night long.

Spotty internet service. Elevator was not working. Construction noise on the westside of property. Nice pool. Swingers is an excellent coffee shop for breakfast or a late night bite.

No Elevator Service, Broken Air Conditioner
When we checked in we were told by the desk clerk that the elevator was out of service as it was being "renovated". We were also told that the heat and air conditioning in our room was not working and we could ask for a different room after 11:00 the following morning. We carried our luggage up the one flight of stairs to the room and retired for the night. The air conditioning unit had a glowing green light blinking with a code indicating it was not working, as we had been told. This blinking light interrupted my wife's sleep and she called the front desk about 3:15 AM asking if anything could be done about it. The answer was 'no'. My question to the manager(s) is if you knew the air conditioner wasn't working and we could switch rooms the next day why assign that room to us at all? Why not put us into another room? Also, we were told at the Swingers Diner next door the next day that the elevator has been out of service for months. We will not stay at the Beverly Laurel Hotel again.

The property was unique and had a cool 60's vibe. But it needs a deep cleaning, new carpets, and the elevators aren't working and apparently haven't been for 2 years yet no mention. One guy at teh front desk was miserable our staff was friendly. But it's a great area close to so many things.

Loved this nostalgic, charming hotel. Room was clean and beds were comfy. No fault of the hotel but there is construction on both sides. Great diner attached to the hotel open very late. Would stay again. Mario was awesome.
