STAY AWAY FROM ECONO LODGE DAR ES SALAAM DANGER!!!
VERY BAD area and unsafe. The outside of the hotel looks dilapidated and the road is a back ally like pothole filled dirt road with no safe parking. We saw ALOT of unsavory characters near the hotel and the smell of marijuana was very bad. I would never want to walk this area ESPECIALLY at night! Walking into the hotel it smelled like mold and foul dampness. The desk person was rude and even claimed we did not have a reservation and we did. We just decided not to stay and found another hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised, friendly staff, clean room with AC and ceiling fan, never did figure out how to work the TV, but no big deal, convenient to bus station, economical. Wi-fi available.
