4/10 Fair
22 December 2023
There’s nothing Grand about it in the slightest. It isn't the cheapest hotel around yet you still have to pay 10bng to use the sauna each time. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in Bulgaria and this is the first I’ve heard of this. No kettle or hairdryer in the room, just a TV and drinking glasses. Extremely dated, the bed is not comfortable and you can feel the springs. The drains/water really smell disgusting and the shower curtain stank of cigarette smoke. The room was not at all soundproofed (it is really noisy). You can hear people in other rooms talking and even going to the toilet! Breakfast is not a buffet as stated in the description, it is an option of 4/5 small offerings. I ordered scrambled eggs as stated on the menu and this is literally all I got! My partner ordered the combination option which included one slice of tomato, stale cake with salami and cheese. In addition, check-in took ten times longer than it should as the guy didnt speak English. He had to make calls to someone else who worked there to translate. Fair enough until he kept on saying we owed 80bng for the room. I said I had paid (on Gtranslate), it was then written on paper for me. I reiterated I had paid and showed the invoice yet he then claimed I still needed to pay for breakfast which was included. Totally unprofessional. An apology was given for the language barrier in the morning but it is the demanding more money that I didn’t feel comfortable with. Not worth the money, get nicer and cheaper!
