Supposed to have had a room with a view of the river, we did not

The owners were great and accommodating! They made sure to be available even though I arrived late due to delayed trains. Breakfast was amazing and the hotel property itself is a unique stay. The only downside is that the train tracks are right next to the property so it gets loud at night, if you're a sober light sleeper. Solution: drink tons of amazing (cheap in price, too!) wine and knock out. Or hike the entire day and tire yourself out. Then the trains won't matter so much.

Very kind owners who go out of their way.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean and brand new. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was amazingly great. We really enjoyed visiting with the woman who owns it. She gave us great insights on life in Germany and Bacharach. Ask for a room facing the city so you won't hear the train. Close to the KD Line boat terminal and the train station.

Charming Hotel
The couple that runs this hotel is super friendly and very helpful! The hotel has a quaint feeling and an old-timey vintage charm. It's well located and the bed was comfortable. We were on the train tracks side and with the windows closed this was not a problem at all.

We stayed here one night. When we arrived, the door was closed. Eventually the owner came & opened it up. This place is run by an older couple so at first he told us there was a mistake & he didnt have our booking. It was settled & we did get a room. Please note: this place was recommended by Rick Steves but since then it had been sold & a railway line was build directly beside the hotel so bring ear plugs. We had ear plugs so we actually had a really good sleep. The breakfast was decent. Overall, we would stay again...the couple was nice, the bed was comfortable, the hotel has lots of character...this place has a lot of potential so hopefully things improve.

Incredible historic location.
Amazing location in one of the towers surrounding the city. The host couple was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and included eggs and sausage. Only drawback was the hotel was a little cold.

Lovely hosts and great location. This is an old hotel in an old building. You will need to be able to climb stairs. Room had new windows and a newly remodeled bathroom. Didn't notice the train on the town side. However, if train noise bothers you, probably don't want the water view. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not for you. If you are looking for an clean, inexpensive, convenient place located in town in an older building with nice owners, this is for you.

Pleasant accommodations and staff. Location was very loud due to local night life well into the early morning hours.

A nice room in a historical building, friendly stuff, great location (right in the town wall!), a bit noisy from the railway (windows insulation helped), great view.

Stay Away
This turned out to be a miserable experience. It was our last day in Europe. We had reservations through Hotels.com for two rooms. We got to the hotel about 9:00 AM as we had reservations for a Rhine River cruise at 10 AM. The owner had me fill out the paperwork and told us we could store our luggage in the spare room off the lobby (which was up a flight of winding stairs). Went on the river cruise and got bacvk to the hotel at about 4:30 PM. The owner tells me that there has been a mistake, they did not have our reservation, were overbooked and in fact there were no rooms available in the entire town of Bacharach. My phone was dead and I had no way to reach Hotels.com. I had a printed copy of our reservation but they just said they were sorry they never got it.. To add insult to injury. They were checking other people in as we argued with them. The husband said he would find us other rooms in a nearby city, but then conveniently disappeared. This added tremendous stress to our last day in Europe and our visit with our recently married son. Hotels.com should take this hotel off their offerings.

Excellent experience. Where else can you stay in a 650 year old room. Very friendly owners. Will stay there again if we are ever back to Germany.

This hotel has character
Mr and Mrs Lee were so friendly and accommodating. They served an excellent breakfast. We slept with earplugs in and were not bothered by trains that pass by very close to the hotel.Bacharach is a beautiful little community and the hotel is very close to some excellent hiking trails. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Quaint hotel in historic building
Would have received 5 for everything but could not go quite that high because of the train tracks outside the window. Train noise was not really a big problem but you knew when one went by. Breakfast was good with excellent scrambled eggs. Definitely above average. Helpful staff, problematic WiFi. Romantic squeaky steps and much charm.

Unique hotel with tons of character!
My daughter and I stayed in the tower room. Lots of stairs, but a really great place to stay. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Great views and the train noise are offset by the unique character.
