Yeonnam Rooftops
The rooftop apartment is clean and nice. The ceiling is quite low so if you're above 175cm tall, it might be a bit uncomfortable. Also, the shower/bathroom space is quite cramped. But, the beds are nice, you have immediate access to the rooftop garden space, and it's quiet. Plus, it's nested in the incredible foodie paradise of Yeonnamdong.

This guesthouse was very clean and in a perfect neighborhood for good food and drinks. The manager was kind and almost immediately available when I arrived unannounced. The bed is hard but that can be overlooked because of the overall cleanliness, condition, and cost of this stay. Very satisfied.

Second stay here. Utterly disappointing!
My wife and I stayed here 3 years ago and it was lovely. So, we wanted a weekend break in Seoul and we thought we'd try it again. What a mistake. Three years have passed and the guesthouse has gone completely downhill. Our room was stuffy, uncomfortable and the bathroom was disgusting. I don't think anyone cleans that bathroom because there was mold growing between the wall tiles. We asked to have our room changed but they could only change our room on the final night of our stay. The room they moved us to was better, but the bathroom was still dirty. Overall our stay was very bad. It's a relief that the guesthouse is in a fantastic area. We tried to stay outside and explore Seoul as much as we could, just so we didn't have to go back to the room. Utterly disappointing.

I Seoul this place
This place is located in a wonderful area and a 10 minute walk to the subway station (Hongik Univ. Station). Also nearby is Hongdae and great artist neighborhood and much more to do and eat. The hotel has good service and it even provided a breakfast (cereal/toast). The owner was wonderful and made himself available for anything we may have needed.

Fantastic!
My daughter was going to college at Yonsei so she went a few days early to adjust to the time change. Getting there (flight cancellations, delays, another cancellation) was a challenge. But the owners and staff at the Haemil Guest house were amazing! First they sent detailed info on how to get there. Step by step with pictures from the subway. The made adjustments on her arrival due to the delay and then carried her bags up 3 flights of stairs to the roof top room. And insisted that they would carry them down when she left. On the day she was leaving, there were monsoon level rains and no taxi's available. The owner put her in his car and drove her to her dorm at the campus. Amazing. The guest house itself is lovely and the staff considerate and friendly. The rooms were clear, the breakfast had fresh fruit and the service was amazing. On the roof top room, if you are over 5'6 it is a little short in the bathroom, so be aware of that for the gents.

Needs improvements
The Haemil Guesthouse is in a lively area of the city with buses and metro within walking distance. Lots of restaurants and little shops near by. While the experience was not terrible, the lodging itself is not great for the price you pay. The rooms are cramped and dark. The pictures show a continental style breakfast, but what is offered is minimal (bad coffee, white bread, sugary cereal). For the price, I would not recommend staying here. Nonetheless, the staff are friendly and helpful if you have questions.

Friendly and quiet
We stayed in the premier twin for 5 nights. It was great. However if there was 1 more chair in the room and if the bed sheets are changed after the 2nd or 3rd day, it would be more comfortable. We got the air conditioner worked. We hope they will provide English translation on the different functions for the air conditioner. Although there are many cafes & restaurants on the same street & around. It was not noisy.

Great value and location, clean and nice place
Haemil Guesthouse was great, on the whole. The owners were very nice and helpful. The room is clean and pretty comfortable. They upgraded us to a larger room, which was very much appreciated. Breakfast is good but very simple -- a fried egg and some fruit. Coffee was not great (tasted like robusta beans instead of arabica) so we just went down the street to a cafe for coffee, which was easy enough. The only real negative we experienced that the shower pressure is not so good. Towels are small but that is true everywhere in Korea. (If I come back to Korea, I will definitely bring my own towel so that I can wrap it around my head after showering.)

Everything was very good! The local area is good for everything! The only negative of the property is the lack of elevator but the guy in the reception was kind enough to get our baggage in the room. Also, some more options for the breakfast would be nice.

Nice hotel close to restaurants, subway, shopping
The hotel on the whole was really good. A lot smaller than the pics on the website and no direct access to sunlight in the room we stayed in. The air-conditioning worked well and the place was kept very neatly. The bed sheets were changed every other day as we stayed for over a week but the room was cleaned every day. We were travelling on a budget and got a great deal, so for the money spent, this was a good little hotel. Breakfast was free which was very basic but did the job. Bread, Eggs, OJ, Coffee, etc. The one thing that isn't really good though is the internet which is very spotty and can be quite infuriating at times. As a whole though, Mr Lee was extremely helpful and we had an absolutely wonderful time in South Korea. This is wonderful hotel that has access to everything with a supermarket, pharmacy, utility store and about 50 restaurants around it catering to various cuisines. The subway is about 700m away from the hotel and also has tonnes of places to eat and shop around it as well. On a side note, it did surprise me how expensive South Korea is in terms of food. Restaurants with English menus tend to be a lot more expensive.

Affordable cute guest house with awesome hosts
It is walking distance (about 10 minutes) from/to Hongik station. I had a late arrival (close to midnight), but I received the detailed directions a few days in advance, so I could find the place easily. Mr. Lee was waiting for my late arrival, and as soon as I got to the guesthouse, he welcomed me and took me to my room. I stayed 4 nights in the Deluxe Double Room. The room was cozy and perfect for 1 or 2 guests, and it was equipped with all necessary items as described in the home page. I also borrowed an electric convertor. Bed was comfortable, bathroom and room were clean, and it was cleaned every day. WiFi was available in the guesthouse, however it was very spotty in my room. Home cooked breakfast was available between 8am to 10am. Upon my arrival to the common area, Mr. Lee’s mother (I think) cooked for me, so food was always fresh and warm. Bread, cereal, juice, coffee/tea were also available. There are many cute and small bars and restaurants around the guest house, and they open till late, so it could be a bit noisy at late night. I didn’t spend a lot of time in or around the guest house, but it was definitely a safe and cute neighborhood. I would say this guest house is equivalent to B&B style of accommodation in the U.S., rather than the hostel. If you want to feel like home in ROK, , this place is perfect for that. I highly recommend this place to all my friends and I would love to go back again.

My stay was good the lady told me there was a noise issue with my room but since they are booked they cant change the room till the next day.Since they never really told me a check in time i showed up at 12pm and told me to come back at 2 and the luggages would be in my room. I went in there and the room was a decent size. They did forgot to clean the bathroom from the previous guest but i was too tired from walking around that i didnt tell them about it and then the wifi kept going in and out from both servers! But im pretty sure if i complained about they would try their best to fix it. I only really needed the room to sleep which was worth it. Ih the lil street is on can get a lil noisy during the weekend night so if u want true silence i wouldn't recommend this place. The walk is not that bad and there is a tour information that would give u a ride to the hotel.
