Clean & quiet residence in Rome
My room was clean and very quiet - the bathroom window overlooked a quiet cortile/terraced residential warren of apartments. The room was equipped with private bath (good water pressure for the shower!), small fridge, pod-coffee maker, and small, half-moon table with two stools for breakfast/light snacks. The shared "kitchen" space is equipped with microwave, toaster and pod-type coffee maker. A selection of "continental breakfast" foods are set-up each evening for the guests. Most of the narrow roads are open only to vehicles of local residents or are limited to pedestrians. The B&B does take its name from the 26 steps from the ground floor to the B&B level (as someone who once had climbing restrictions, this might be an issue for some). There are small food shops and convivial trattorie/bars within a few steps of the front door. Rome is a large, sprawling city but this neighborhood,Trastevere, feels like a small village. I was, unexpectedly, early for my check-in. But, this was resolved with a quick email sent from a taxi. I would not hesitate to stay at B&B Ventisei Scalini in the future.

It was a cool place if you want to get a feel of how a local might live but other than that I think a hotel would have been a better value for the price we paid. The hot water did not work and the point of contact was sort of rude with her responses. I'm not sure if that was a cultural difference in the way people address issues.

In the very heart of Trastevere
Great location close to where we wanted to be, fantastic restaurants around. True Rome!

Very good 8,0
Great location but welcome not up to standard.
Communicated with one of the hosts via whatsapp and they were very helpful and accommodating. Informed them 3 days ahead of our stay that we had a late night flight on arrival - they said no problem but would be 20 euro charge for them to meet us with the key. That was fine, except when we arrived Miguel was outside the property and was pretty rude. He barely spoke to us, snatched up our passports to photograph them and threw the map on the bed, I think the only thing he said was" I am very tired!" and rolled his eyes. No advice on area, even help with where we were on the map etc. It was late, but its a hotel, we can't be the first guests to check in after midnight - given we paid the extra fee we didn't appreciate the attitude problem. The room itself was OK, large and fairly clean. Area and location fantastic. Overall pretty good despite the poor welcome.

Lovely place!
We loved staying at B&B Ventisei Scalini and would highly recommend it for those wanting an authentic experience of Rome. With your own key to the entrance you'll feel like a local. Lucia is excellent with communication and very quick to respond and to follow up on any requests. Miguel kept our rooms in tip top shape and showed us super service. The location is perfect for walking around all of Rome. The area is packed with lively restaurants and very good food. Breakfast, lunch, dinner - all is available in the area. Just in front of the B&B there's a restaurant with very good pizza. And around the corner you can get slices of pizza until 2 a.m. which would be much appreciated if you have a late arrival. We will definitely stay at the Ventisei Scalini again! Grazie tantissimo Lucia! Tanti saluti anche a Miguel.

Steep stairway. Three locked units with a private bath and shared kitchen area with complimentary breakfast foods. Coffee maker, refrigerator in room. Room was oddly not square, so the foot side of the bed was not parallel to the wall, making it kind of tight. Double bed is two singles placed together. Toilet was built on a raised platform with a plastic stool to put you feet on when sitting. Rude people in next room can be heard unpacking, throwing items against the wall, talking, and using shower, toilet, and water. Amazingly didn't hear the manager escort them in. Quiet outside location. Good wifi. Have to make appointment for check in. I asked the owner when the check in person would be there, and she required me to give a time I would be there. I guess they don't live in the area, so they can't let us in. The doorbell buttons are not labeled clearly. Arrive a half hour early and the manager appeared at the appointed time. There was a housekeeper cleaning the other room, and the manager was there earlier. Would have been nice to wait inside. Thankfully we met outside so we didnt have to play doorbell roulette.

Good location, but overall would not recommend
Good location, but the room was more like an ABNB and no real breakfast. I couldn't sleep all night since there was a restaurant directly in front of the room and screaming people, people on the phone all night and thin walls. Also, the wifi barely works. I was expecting more of a hotel, vs. an ABNB since I booked this on hotels.com. Also, I could only take a shower for a few minutes before the water went cold. There was no real check-in process and check-in desk, and upon meeting a random guy he took a picture of our Passports which was really sketchy.

A last resort...
The only good thing about the place was the location. The internet didn't work most of the time. There was old fruit in a basket and an open box of corn flakes. The room was on the first floor next to the front door that slams shut.
