We've stayed at O'reillys before and the staff are nothing short of accommodating and welcoming. Previously we stayed in a villa and that was nothing short of exceptional, this time around we stayed in the retreat and we wouldn't do it again. You pay decent money for the retreat and the cleanliness wasn't great, no TV, ventilation is very poor when using bathroom as it fills up whole room, could hear staff vacuuming at a late hour, etc. The facilities are great and we will definitely be back however do not recommend the retreat not great value for money.

This is not a place to go if you want to “get away from it all” as there are a lot of tourists. The staff and their service is first class but the standard rooms have walls so thin you can hear the neighbours talking. Not my idea of a retreat.

2 Night Stay - 3 Day Hike
We absolutely enjoyed the stay and hiked each day. We arrived at 8 am and hiked on first day, checking in when we returned and on third day, checked out early and hiked again till late afternoon. The ladies in the info centre across the road are awesome in providing advice about the day walks. They seem to do the long walks regularly. They advised us against the Border walk - they said nothing to see! We did Alfred Creek, Tooloona Creek and West Canungra circuits (over 3 days) and so glad we took their advice - most beautiful and scenic walks - lost count of the waterfalls. Nobody at check in told us about the sign in and out book for the walks so they know who hasn't returned and we saw this book by chance on our last day. Such an important tool I just want to make sure other 'newbies' know it is there before taking a day hike. Food and drink service is friendly and generally a very casual level of service. The cafe has an amazing view and prices are normal cafe prices. Avoid the Stimson Room No.1 if you are older or have lots of gear. It is probably one of the few rooms you can't park near to unload. If you do park close to unload, your car will block the access to all the other rooms with parking while you unload. You can avoid blocking road if you cart your luggage from guest house parking or visitors car park. I am looking forward to going back and doing other walks. Beautiful location.

Unique location. Lodge well maintained in keeping with the era. Perhaps a few more comfortable chairs in the library/ sitting room, especially in the evening when the fire has been lit. Loved the walks although one , though short, in my opinion requires a greater degree of difficulty tag.

This property is in a superb location and sensitively connects visitors to a Works Heritage rainforest area. Service was great, as is the ambience and design of the property. This was a last minute trip for us, and we were in an older, less well- designed part of the accommodation where we had a view of the valley over a long expanse of roof and air conditioners. We still had a lovely time, but would choose more carefully next time
