10/10 Exceptional

My partner and I traveled around Scotland by car for 10 days. This was by far our favorite hotel that we stayed in. The hotel is quaint and had so much charm. From the moment you walk in you feel like you are at a quiet, country home. There is a very large reading room on the entry level floor which is well stocked with books and lots of seating. Check in was easy. We ate dinner in the Spey Inn restaurant which is located onsite downstairs from the hotel. The food was wonderful. Service was nice and we didn’t feel rushed during our meal. Outside from the hotel, there is a small path from the parking lot that leads down to a trail which flows around to an old bridge with a history marker. We passed plenty of locals who were out for their morning walks. Our room was super cute with plenty of space and a nice sized bathroom. It was clean and comfy. There were menu options available for breakfast which was included with our stay. If we are every back in Scotland we will definitely stay here again and were sad that we were only in the area for 1 night. We booked a morning tour at Glenfiddich which is just down the road from the hotel. Highly recommend.

8/10 Very good

The world class whiskey bar (over 800 bottles) alone, hosted by a truly knowledgeable somm, made the stay memorable. Overwhelmed, slow dinner service and somewhat dated areas lost a star for us.

The whisky bar was phenomenal with the best and most knowledgeable barman. Beautiful setting, great hotel if not a little pricey.

4/10 Fair

Luxury? Frosty welcome, portering our own bags up rain soaked stairs outside, generally tatty exterior and care worn inside. Room OK, bed good, bathroom could use work. No breakfast first morning, good offering the next day. There are better places to stay in Speyside (book well in advance). Very poor value at over $660 for two night stay with one breakfast! Owner and no manager were available on site to address concerns. Stay elsewhere!

Had tough time getting up and down. No help with luggage delivery to the room. No elevator in the building. Narrow hallways. Rooms where small. My room was next to the road, you can hear the trafic all the time. No air condition in the building. Great brekfast however.

6/10 Good

Not happy - and expensive
Poor state of repair for the room and mould in the bathroom, one window did not open. Told “that’s the way it is” instead of staff offering to help. Tv did not work. Streetlight directly into room window. For over 200 pounds per night, a pretty poor show.

We are disabled. Our room was upstairs and difficult to reach given there was no elevator. The staff was extremely friendly and provided all of our meals in our room.
