Beautiful building, architecturally & sympathetically transformed into a lovely hotel. I was, however, unaware when booking that it had no restaurant on-site. Arriving at pm, looking forward to using the spa pool, to find it’s only open 2-7pm. After driving all day, this was disappointing. I settled for a hot shower in my room. To then establish no restaurant on-site but advised there were many to choose from along the road, we set off. We then found most to be closed for holidays and those open either didn’t serve food in the evenings or fully booked. We returned to the hotel for advice. It was suggested by a gentleman that one at the top of the road should be open, so set off again. At this point, tired, hungry & fed up. We did indeed find this one restaurant & seated just in time as those arriving afterwards were turned away, as no availability left. We had a delicious meal & returned happily to the hotel. This time a new member of staff was on duty. He was extremely helpful & pointed out they do a short room service menu! Too late sadly. He also provided the breakfast room service form to complete, which I did. Despite clearly filling this out with ‘1’ next to each item, 2 of everything arrived but no scrambled eggs, as requested. The room was perfect & extremely comfortable with great washing facilities. The kitchenette provided tea & coffee making equipment but only 2 saucers & no cups. Only 1 small bottle of water, for 2 guests. Despite all this I would recommend.
