Towering skyscrapers create a skyline that seems to rise straight from Lake Michigan's blue waters. The Art Institute houses masterpieces while Millennium Park's reflective 'Bean' sculpture distorts the city in delightful ways. Navy Pier offers carnival-like fun with a giant Ferris wheel providing spectacular views. Wrigley Field remains gloriously old-school, where ivy-covered walls and hand-turned scoreboards transport baseball fans to another era. Deep-dish pizza at local institutions sparks fierce debates about whose crust reigns supreme. The Chicago River's architecture boat tours reveal how the city rebuilt itself after the Great Fire. Field Museum's Sue, the world's most complete T-Rex, stares down visitors with 65-million-year-old intensity.

"The location is good. It’s in walking distance of a lot of good places to eat and things to do the bar on the roof is a little smaller than I was expecting, especially from the pictures. The breakfast in the hotel was really good. I just didn’t know there was gonna be a few stairs in the room I was traveling with a few people that have some trouble with mobility, but it wasn’t too bad and some of the blankets could probably be replaced. They had a few holes in them, but overall, it was really nice place to stay. They were also really nice and stored our luggage before our train departed."

"We stayed for one night at this beautiful and historic hotel. We enjoyed walking through the lobby looking at the history setup they had. The rooms were clean, the view from our room was amazing. We had a lake view + a view of the Buckingham Fountain. The staff was super helpful they were posted throughout the lobby floor ready to help and direct you to your destination. We had the breakfast buffet and the food was great, they had a good variety of breakfast food."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Chicago
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Chicago is during January, February, and December, when hotel prices are generally lower. For those on a budget, staying for at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully experience the city's iconic landmarks, rich history, and vibrant culture. Visitors can explore stunning urban architecture, impressive skyscrapers, renowned theatres, and a variety of museums and art galleries. Additionally, the city's scenic river and notable monuments offer excellent value for money and a delightful way to immerse oneself in Chicago's entertainment scene.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For travellers heading to Chicago, Hotels.com offers a variety of opportunities to save. Start by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section, where you may discover discounted rates on hotels. Check out the Last-Minute Deals area for special offers close to your travel dates, and enable alerts to stay informed about flash sales. Moreover, you could use the Smart Shopping tool via the app to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see the best options for your getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a Chicago hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and sometimes offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially secure a better deal.
- Consider your location: Accommodations nearer to the city centre usually command a premium; however, thanks to Chicago's excellent public transport links, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less congested neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations can offer a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
