Perfect for shows at the Pony
This hotel, while dated, is absolutely the perfect place to stay if you are seeing a show at The Stone Pony. The room was reasonably clean and tidy, no fridge which was surprising but not a deal breaker. Be warned, if you are there on a Friday/Saturday night, or any night that the nightclub is operational you will hear music all the way to 2AM no matter where you are in the Hotel, our room was on the 4th floor, farthest you could be from the club, and we could still hear it, didn't bother me as we didn't get back until midnight and we were at a show anyways, but don't expect sober sleep until after 2am :-) That said, IT IS PERFECT if you are seeing a show at STONE PONY, it's literally a 30 second walk, it's fantastic. There are also some local bars that are walkable, most notably the WOnderBar and the Robinson Ale House, fantastic, will stay here again.

Fun funky clean
Lovely room at the end of the boardwalk, we felt safe and it was quiet. The lobby was relaxing. We didn’t realize it, but there was a show there that was so fun, we spent the night in the lounge in the back of the hotel. It has a funky fun vibe, a bit retro. Staff was nice.

Great location and very good value. Balcony overlooking pool was nice. Having a night club on the property made it a very short walk at the end of the night. Every staff member including bartenders were friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the elevator wasn't working with no insight when it would be back up.

The Empress is the queen of Asbury Park. The rooms are a little tired but there have definitely been some updates done recently. The convenience of the location and Paradise right downstairs makes it worth the money.

If you are planning a night away with the expectation to be up all night then this is the place for you. The only real value of this property is the location across from the beach/walking distance to boardwalk along with the parking. Everything else is sub par. The rooms are outdated, yes they have balconies but with a flimsy plastic chair that you can’t even comfortably sit on. There is no water anywhere in the hotel, in the rooms or for purchase in the vending machines. The hotel houses what is likely the most popular and loudest night club and you can literally hear the music and vibration throughout the hotel. That said - it was the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. When I asked the staff about a room away from the club they said it shouldn’t be that loud. As it approached 2AM and I was still wide awake anxiously waiting for the music to stop at closing time- I was treated to another 15-20 mins of after hour music. If all of this is your scene then this is the spot for you.

Great Place!

The room was adequate and clean. Great location to the beach and boardwalk area. Within walking distance of many restaurants and venues. Place is a bit dated with the decor in the common areas and not a great attention to details around building. (Someone had gotten ill outside the bar and the mess had been there for a while. )
