Great location and breakfast
I loved this place. It was built in 1937, so it has a vintage charm. It is centrally located on the strip which is amazing. Great fresh breakfast!

Only if......
The location of this hotel on the strip cannot be discounted, however the rooms are in need of renovation. The bed was uncomfortable and the four foot fluorescent light over the headboard of the bed was so bright and jarring. Only stay here if you want the location.

2/10 Poor

It’s a No from me!
The staff were very nice. The breakfast provided was good. They had a good selection. The beds were hard as a rock. I expected rustic, but this was beyond. The carpet did not appear to have ever been changed from the opening of the hotel. It definitely was not vacuumed prior to us getting there as there were candy wrappers and loose change in the floor. The floors were not level. The furniture leaned because of the unlevel floors. The bathroom was the only part of the room that appears to have been updated at all. There were very limited electrical outlets. Only 2 I found in the main room and the one by the bed was behind the bed and not easily accessible. The rooms around the reception desk were rustic but decorated nicely. The best part of the hotel was the location. Walk out the front door and onto the main strip of shops in downtown. I’m sorry to say I would not recommend this hotel as I definitely would not stay here again.

A historic gem
The hotel is a historic gem that will meet your needs. Check in was easy, fast and pleasant. The room is a little dated but you only sleep there. The breakfast was very good and the staff were amazing.

Nice old hotel but lacking in condition of rooms
Staff very friendly, lobby area very nice, excellent breakfast with plenty of space in dining area. Understand it is an old hotel, but the rooms very small and smell bad. No water pressure and bathroom is tiny. The room was not very clean and we had a blanket with stains on it and it was replaced. Lobby area and outside deceiving as to condition of rooms.

Nostalgic Hotel
Throw back to the 1970s which was ok. A little smell when you first enter room but it quickly went away. I think it was like a wood smell since there is paneling on the walls. A little dusty but overall a comfortable and clean stay. Would stay here again. Very convenient to all of the activities and stores. Didn’t need to move car until we left.

6/10 Good

We expected an old hotel (historic, after all), but were surprised that there were so few conveniences. No microwave or refrigerator, no fans at all (a ceiling fan and a bathroom fan would have been appreciated.) The breakfast was much like I think it would be at an assisted living facility. Only fresh fruit was very green bananas. When we reported that our room hadn’t been cleaned or restocked one day, no one really cared. Just a bit disappointed, given that the price was higher than others in the area and the Expedia write-up looked good.

I love the location and the ambience of the Gatlinburg Inn. Breakfast was on point. Staff was always friendly. My complaint would be… the carpet in the room that I was in 107 needs it to be replaced along with the chair. Old and dirty looking. Also it would be great if the shower had a wand shower head.
