In la Zona Colonial, which is the oldest neighborhood in town with a ton of great stuff to do nearby. You get exactly what you pay for. There is breakfast included, which is nice, but it is also the same thing everyday. There is air conditioning and hot water, which isn't always a given in the DR. It's definitely a Dominican hotel, not an American hotel, so it might be a little different than what you're used to. Knowing some Spanish is definitely a plus.
