Full of charm!
The Kauai Inn is full of charm. It's an older hotel (oldest in Kauai they told us) but the owner has made some key upgrades and the staff couldn't be an nicer. The sheets, towels, and bed were soft. The AC was cold and while the shower/bathroom was outdated, there was lots of hot water and nice water pressure. Honestly an updated bathroom wouldn't fit the vibe and charm of this place anyway. They had soft music playing and nice lights to light up the pool area at night. They have live music on certain nights (an excellent surprise!) and they had a nice fireworks display on NYE (also a nice surprise). As other reviewers have said-- there are cats and chicken and roosters. Not the hotels cats but strays and neighbor cats that like to come by to visit. There are peacocks and we even saw a wild pig nearby one evening. The view is absolutely amazing of the mountains. What put this hotel over the top was the staff. They made sure we are breakfast before checking out and we're genuine and kind. We loved the Kauai Inn and will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Kauai.

Great find and beautiful area.
Beautiful area away from the hustle and bustle of Lihue. Very friendly and accommodating. This is not a 5 star hotel that you are going to pay 400-500 a night but instead it is a beautiful area, clean and comfortable. Upon our arrival we were given beads which was a nice surprise. Continental breakfast was very nice and coffee was great. The hospitality was wonderful.

A little piece of paradise.
It is a beautiful place, nice pool, live music on the weekend, a variety of breakfast options including local fresh fruit, and very causal Hawaiian vibe. Management really cares about their guests. They greeted us with shell & seed necklaces, plumeria hair clip, and a hibiscus flower. They also have a laundromat and offer beach towels at the front desk. The TV reception was a bit spotty, but the WiFi worked great.

I stayed at the Kauai Inn for 4 nights and enjoyed every single night I was there! It has a very unique feel to it and had lots of night time activities. You can tell that all of the workers really care about the place and want to ensure you enjoy your stay. Overall, it’s a great way to relax and have a fun time by yourself of with family! There are a few things to note: the breakfast is a true “grab and go” style that features muffins, croissants, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, various fruit (cut it yourself), juice, milk, tea, and coffee, the pool is only 3 feet all around, there are a lot of animal noises (earplugs are provided), no ventilation fan in the bathroom (just a window), and the rooms have a vintage feel to them. I don’t think these things should deter you from staying here, but think it would be helpful to know these beforehand.

Difficult to find with the bridge closed; should have got a message from hotel that bridge was closed and have to drive the long way around. Key did not work in my room; and i had to get another. Nice view of the mountains from the room - place a bit dated. Breakfast was tasty but it ended at 9 am ---- would have loved being on holiday for it to go to at least 10am.

I am 29 years old, travelling with my girlfriend. This hotel is so underrated. The room was very clean and prettier than online photos may suggest. The view on the mountains was simply perfect. It has an authentic hawaiian vibe and is close to nature. The owner, Philip, as all the staff, were very friendly. The pool is clean, the breakfast is convenient. We had music shows three times. We definitely recommend!!
