It was a cheap room...
This was a very cheep room in a great location. Within walking distance from a lot of downtown hotspots. They require a cash deposit for incidentals, which is quite weird. They do have an ATM in the lobby. But the surprise of that made it irritating, plus the charge to withdraw the cash. Looks like theyve tried to modernize these rooms but fall short on the maintenance. Bathroom mirror is one of those new style with the light border around it which was really nice. The curtains were torn and had little holes all over. The mattress was Very comfy. Again, it was a cheap room for about $54/a day. I wouldnt pay a dime more than that! The staff was friendly.

Good location & quality for reasonable rate
Excellent location within a 5 minute drive of Temple Square. Old property but clean and very quiet with elevator for 2nd floor guests. Room had TV, microwave, fridge, extra chair and round table to eat on, bathroom with tub, shower, hair dryer, shampoo and soap; very reasonable rate. CASH deposit of $100 required on checkin! Refunded at checkout.

Get what you pay for
I guess for the price you get what you get. Curtains were see through until it was dark outside and dark in your room. So no privacy and light from the city shined right in. No shower as water never got warm. Cash deposit makes zero sense to me. I understand how banks work and returns on deposits, but just seems to not make sense. Fridge smelled. Stains on sheets. Smudges on the walls. Maybe with some effort they can make this place better but from the looks of it I don’t think that will happen. If you are planning to stay a night you should be fine but a couple nights or more may drive you crazy.

Their ice machine was beeping very loudly right out side our room. I called front desk but they couldn’t figure it out. So after three hrs of listening to it I went and looked at it myself and opened it up, flipped a switch and stopped the beeping myself. Overall, nice, comfortable beds and pretty clean rooms.

Check-in was terrible. First, my reservation had been cancelled and I didn't do it. Second, I asked if I could check-in early and they said it would cost $25. Do I came back later and had to rebook thru the website to get a room.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The only reason i gave 4 stars is because i would have liked brighter lights in the room. The room was very clean and the staff was really nice. There aren't a lot if amenities but I wasn't concerned with that. I was just looking for a clean, safe place to stay for a weekend trip.

We visited SLC for a concert and because of some last minute fall-throughs we needed to book a hotel at the last minute. We chose this one because it was cheap and near downtown. It’s a rundown crappy motel and we definitely saw some “late night” lady workers going into hotel rooms, so definitely not family friendly. Rooms are a little nasty too.

The price is right.
This was not my first stay at the Metropolitan. I choose this motel for the price and the convenience of being able to walk to the Salt Palace. This year the motel seemed more rundown than last year, the mattresses were new and comfortable last year, but lumpy and hard this year. Housekeeping does a great job with what they have to work with. It's still a great value, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.
