Bad and expensive Heirloom the house or Edward
The property was not the Flamish Tale, but the Heirloom house or Edward. This was a downgrade, and nobody informed us of this change. Very expensive for what it is... Bad bad bad

Don't get rained out
We stayed at this hotel in June, but had to check out early because it was not in a condition suitable for paying guests. Whenever the upstairs neighbour took a shower, water started pouring out of our ceiling. Even though we were told multiple times that we would receive a refund, this has still not happened.

I was not expecting a code-style reception at "A Flemish Tale. To me, an in-person reception check-in is essential for a traveler overseas like me. Thankfully, I was waiting downstairs at least 2 hours before my "check-in time" at 3:00 p.m., so that I was able to meet, totally by chance, the lady in charge at the entrance. But for this, I would not have been able to get my access code. Imagine how scary it was!

Avoid!Although I booked "flemish tales" I've been informed last minute to transfer at another tiny room 10' walking distance with a heavy luggage named "the librarian" because of an alleged double booking. Unfriendly and Rude customer support by telephone!I would never recommend that room to anyone because it's not worthy the price and I've been fooled!

never book this hotel
towels were stained, vinyl flooring was loose and patched, bathroom smelled, stains on the external of the wardrobes, safety chain was broken, blind in sitting area had been cut away, smell from restaurant below was noticed throughout the hotel, this was not a five star experience as the hotel claims, even their budget prices could not make me stay. I moved out without even staying the night.

Great place and locstion
The photos do not do this hotel and the room justice. The room had ample space, a large comfortable king bed and an excellent patio that we used through out our whole stay. Very centrally located to the best restaurants and local must see sites. Houssein was a very gracious host and ensured we had everything we needed during our stay. 10/10 highly recommend!

Room with a view
Lovely little hotel with larger than usual rooms and amenities like coffee machine. Spotless and clean, great view of the city and close to all the sites worth seeing in Ghent. Tram is close by to get back to the station with little effort.

8/10 Very good

I was on the first floor in a king bedroom and it was beautiful and spacious with a modern bathroom. The only downside was that there was no TV and the noise from the restaurant below was a bit loud but not too bothersome for me.

Perfect location and spacious room.
Beautiful and very spacious room, though up three flights of steep stairs. No reception on site, so can't easily get little things dealt with (eg the television didn't work, no cleaner for the three days we were there, and very little complimentary tea and coffee). But that is outweighed by the perfect location, the lovely room, and very reasonable price. If you are fit and don't worry about details, very highly recommended.

Location was outstanding. Loved the quirky loft character of the room. The problem however was the stairs (no lift option) - 95 stairs to get to our room, the last 10 of which are a narrow spiral staircase with no handrail. If you are unfit, have knee issues etc, or have a suitcase over 15kg, then you will likely struggle. I believe “the stairs” should have been mentioned in the hotel description.

6/10 Good

My room was cute but on the 4th floor, with no lift I had to carry my luggage up 4 flights of stairs plus a very narrow spiral staircase right at the end to actually access my room. I was actually concerned about doing an injury. It was also a very warm day, the room had 2 fans, one which did not work at all and another that didn’t do much. No refrigerator, so the water I had ended up more than room temperature quickly. Room was also an awkward shape, toilet and bathroom sink required ducking down to use. However, the linen was lovely, and a very comfortable bed. Location was pretty good but probably wouldn’t stay again.

The room we stayed in was really unique, it was the rooftop of an old building with views of the churhes and towers. It was also located in the center so most sights were within minutes of walking distance. Yet there are problems with the room too. First of all the room can be accessed via steep stairs that take you up to fourth floor. So if you have heavy luggage, reconsider. Second thing is, because of the roof structure in some parts of the room the ceiling is too low. I am only 160 cm and yet I had to bend over to use the toilet. So looking back I would stay at another place next time.

Merkezi konumda. Yatak rahat. Ancak nevresimler üç gün değişmedi.

For being a tale, it's a tale. is it a nice one?;
The name does not betray the expectations: it was a tale, and it was a Flemish one; however not necessarily a pleasant one. The automatic check-in/check-out do not help in entering in the city environment of Ghent. The communication with the codes worked well, so no problem for that. The building is very traditional and quite nice. Position fantastic in the very centre of Ghent. But. My room, number 4, was on the fourth and last floor. I had really and almost literally to climb between floor three and four, with a wooden stair. No lift: I would NEVER recommend it in particular to people with mobility issues and/or large baggages. The room: more an attic than a penthouse. Bed: rather comfortable with quality sheets. The additional pillows in a small wall closet were horribly stained. Towels: I had just two shower towels, no hand one, no shower mat. The quality was great, really, but it is not normal to have just the large towels. Toilet::incredible. The basin in the room. The WC behind a room, next to the shower (separated). All this within the room. No moquette (great!) but parquet: a very old and creaking one (a bit rotten close to the shower... Without the mat is not surprising). A good coffee machine was available. Some kind of a strange puff and a couple of chairs were also present. No TV at all. WiFi working correctly. In general, not recommended.

The only pros is the location. The rest is to be revised, room not properly cleaned, I had to argue to get an iron, and request bedsheet change. They collected the bath mat on the first day but did not replace it. I was in room 3 and someone came to the room upper floor, I could here them waking on the parquet until 1am. Very noisy in general, isolation to be reviewed. Do not go there if you have big luggage, there is no elevator. I regret not to have booked the B&B next door.
