City layed out in sections with large expanses between destinations. I would not depend on GPS to route me without first looking at a map before taking off. Many destinations routed through neighborhoods when freeway would have been best.

Indio was low rent for many years. But now even Indio is starting to get a bit more upscale. I think it's all the snowbirds.

Stay on the North side of the 10 freeway and you should have better luck in the neighborhood. I was told to stay out of the south side of town.

Lots of change there in the past few years. great to see the improvements for travelers
"Loved the "feels like home" atmosphere. Family/Kid friendly resort. Large pool areas. The pool could use more "care" with cleanliness due to such a large crowd of vacationing families on a daily use. No complaints other than cleaner pools and an option to request more bath towels instead of "swapping " only in exchange for more towels."
