Nice setting, mixed experience
We stayed for two nights at Etotongwe Lodge as a base for going to Etosha National Park. It had a real Lodge feel and we enjoyed the views. The room was clean and comfortable and suited our needs. There was a nice little sitting out area outside the room, although most other rooms had a more private area than ours (room 25). The bar was busy and access to the internet was limited therefore we only got onto the wifi on the final morning when there was no-one else around. This was important to us as we needed to be in contact with family back home and complete further planning but this was problematic. Check in was a little challenging as the lady couldn't seem to find our booking at first, but it was resolved in the end. We ate breakfast at about 8.15 am on the first morning (it finished at 9am) but there was very little hot food left and although they offered to make fresh eggs, they seemed a little reluctant. Whilst we were eating breakfast (cold/tough bacon and toast which had seen better days) there was a lot of commotion coming from the kitchen and it was clear the manager was very unhappy with the staff for some reason; we'd have preferred to have eaten in a more peaceful atmosphere. We had breakfast somewhat earlier the following day and there was more choice and the food was hotter. The pool area was nice, but impossible to get a bed if you arrive later on in the day (many were reserved in the usual tourist way, book or towel, but no one on the bed itself).
