Overall, the room was clean, comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the location was excellent. Unfortunately, the service left me disappointed. From the moment I checked in, I felt like I was being policed rather than welcomed. I entered through the front door because I hadn't been given any specific check-in instructions, yet I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong.
The morning of my checkout, after breakfast, both of my key cards stopped working. Fortunately, the chef was there and let me back into my room with a master key card. It seemed staff were generally available in the afternoons, but not in the mornings when I actually needed assistance. Later that morning, no one was available and no one answered the phone. I understand this is a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel, but it made me wonder what would have happened if the chef hadn't been there or if I had been locked out with no way to reach anyone.
I also didn't feel comfortable with luggage being stored in the open living room, as it didn't seem very secure.
Finally, the housekeeper questioned why I was still in my room at 11:30 a.m, even though the written instructions clearly stated that late checkout was available until 12:00 p.m.
The room itself was lovely, but the lack of staff availability and the overall guest experience would make me hesitate to stay here again.
