2/10 Poor
29 May 2025
I recently stayed at Hyacinth Pension for a two-night trip to Tongyeong. While the view from the bay-facing rooms is lovely and there’s a charming coffee shop and gift store just down the hill, the condition of the property fell well below what was advertised.
We rented a “Deluxe Duplex,” and sadly saw visible water damage, the bathroom was damp with long term mold and a rotting door. The steep internal staircase had no handrail, and the sleeping mezzanine had no accessible light switch—an issue at night.
Guests should also be aware that there’s no lift, so luggage must be carried up the stairs if you’re staying on a higher floor.
The host seemed kind and well-meaning, but the property needs attention and a more accurate listing to reflect its current state. This may suit some travelers looking for basic accommodation, but I’d advise reviewing recent photos before booking—especially if safety, hygiene, and accessibility are priorities.
