Stunning spa hotel
Our hotel was simply amazing! The view from our balcony was stunning and enjoying the sunset from the hotel is really special. We loved the spa and the staff there are wonderful. Also a shout out for the yoga teacher, it was a treat to do yoga outside under the sun looking out to sea.

We had a pool suite for a family of 4, and the room was enormous and so luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, and my children said that the sofa bed was too. We absolutely loved the pool on the balcony. Breakfast was very busy, and an amazing number of guests somehow manage to drop food on the floor. The staff were quick to clean it up and replenish the food. We had buffet dinner once and that was really nice. There was a good selection of food that was constantly topped up. The pools were excellent, but it was slightly annoying that other guests hogged the sunbeds by placing towels on them early in the day but didn't go there until later.

I am sad to write this review as we absolutely loved this hotel a few years ago. Last year there were signs of change and this year very clearly things had changed. Although, we were given the room we requested, so Thankyou😊 Firstly, when we arrived on my way to the room, I saw a mouse running frantically through the dark corridor🐁. I let reception know and their response surprised me. They just said ‘Thankyou for letting us know, we will inform housekeeping’. That was it, we heard no more! My husband followed it up the next day, and we felt they were trying to say I didn’t see it! They explained they have a company come in to control all pests and that the company only came the week before. It was not a good start. As others have pointed out, the sunbeds around the infinity pool come at a cost! Hence they are nearly always empty, which doesn’t look good. This is the first time we have not had the premium package. The reason being it has gone up substantially! It does influence the whole feel of the stay. For example, whilst the breakfast was very good, the experience was awful….searching for a table, finding staff to clear it, queuing for omelettes or poached eggs, and the noise level was dreadful. I could go on, but I will just say, it was a wonderful hotel, but for us, not anymore.

Beautiful location in a quieter part of Madeira. Loved the decor and vibe of the hotel, and really enjoyed all of the restaurants. top notch breakfast buffet. Easy access to everything we wanted to do on the Island. Will definitely stay here again!

A beautiful hotel with a lovely infinity pool overlooking the sea, and the staff are excellent. The food was good but expensive. We found it much better value to eat at the nearby restaurants at the marina. We found our room and balcony (with half ocean view) lovely, but the bathroom facilities are a very odd design and lack privacy. It's very strange that there's no shower room door, particularly given that the shower entrance is opposite the main hotel room door! I would recommend this hotel for a luxury stay in a beautiful location.

Very nice hotel with a beautiful view of the ocean. We loved the infinity pool. We didn't love the bathroom set up which included a shower workout a door. Pool area on top floor was nice but lacked stable wifi and no bar service at the chairs. You have to walk up to a bar to get a drink. There was not a store in the hotel so had to walk 3 blocks to get sunscreen.

What a beautiful Resort! Calheta was the perfect final destination after a busy few weeks travelling. The resort was extremely clean and well kept. We were blown away by the beauty everyday. The included breakfast buffet was phenomenal as well as the views while eating! I would suggest not to wait and plan on doing your laundry here as it was quite costly. The resort itself was pricey in regards to dinner so I would suggest venturing into Calheta for dinner at some point! We did have a couple spiders in our bed, not much the resort can do about this but just a friendly reminder to check your sheets before going to bed, my boyfriend got bit while sleeping and had a reaction over the next week. Overall we had a really great experience and would recommend anyone to stay here! Such a beautiful resort!

This was our second visit to Saccharum and it was as excellent as our first visit. First class service and facilities throughout. Since our last visit there have been a range of subtle but welcome upgrades as well as some changes to the menus. We loved the spa experience and the beach club on the weekend evening and the new fire pit dining experience was superb. If you’re looking for a modern resort experience with a contemporary vibe this is well worth a visit. Premium Package is highly recommended.
